I did search the forum but was unable to find my answer, sorry if I missed it.
That said, I am trying to find a "How To" hopefully with pics on changing the oil on the Gen V. I was hoping for a step by step of what needs removed etc.
Does a "How To" exist?
Thanks in advance for any help you all can provide.

Nothing needs to be removed. Jack the car up, drain the oil, replace the filter, and refill. It's the same as any other car :).

It's very straight forward. The filter and drain plug are extremely visible once the car is in the air.

Whatever you do, make sure to drain for 30 or so minutes with the car level so you get everything out. My car used every last drop of 11 quarts. I also ordered a filtermag to slap onto the oil filter to trap any metal flakes in the filter.

Best of luck!

Do not jack uop the fron of the car at too steep of anf angle as you will NOT get all of the oil out. The drain plug is located on the side of the oil pan and not at the rear like most cars.
It appears you have limited experience. I would bite the bullet and buy the factory shop manual for the car.... (Its actually a CD).

Actually, jacking this car up for an oil change is not easy or particularly straightforward for someone unfamiliar with the Gen V "anatomy". Care must be taken to avoid damaging the belly pans. If lifting to a level position on 4 jack stands, great care must be exercised to avoid a slide-off disaster.
If I were you, I would hook up with local Viper owners/club members and ask for help this first time. I have certainly shown new owners how to do this then assisted them the next time dozens of times. It's all about safety and doing no harm.
Another point would be to suggest great care when installing the new Viper specific oil filter as the gasket can "snake" causing a slow drip or a catastrophic loss of oil.
All of these points have been recently covered here...take advantage of said posts.
If you have doubts, call one of us BEFORE you go too far.
Best of luck...and be very proud of that Beauty !!

Yes, please see my recent post about the oil filter seeping. Other than that, pretty straightforward.

Thanks to all of you for the replies. I just assumed the belly pan or something had to be removed. I have read the post regarding seepage and also about letting the oil drain for 30 mins. I have a mechanic friend who owns a shop with a lift so I will get him to help me with the change when the time comes. He has experience on older Vipers so it should be familiar to him.
I am an airplane mechanic by trade and have always done the maintenance on my cars but I have no Viper experience so I wanted to do some homework.
Thanks again. :D

I take my daily drivers to a local oil change shop. I have dealt with these people for years. When I got my Viper I was not sure when the oil was last changed I bought my Mobile 1 and filter and took it to them and they change the oil and filter for $20.00. To me that was a no brainier. I was also allowed to go down in the pit and watch the service preformed, this gave me a chance to inspect the underneath of the car up close and personal.

Better yet find someone with a lift. It makes jobs like this SOOO easy. I went out this morning and popped the oil filter off and pulled the drain plug. When I get home Ill put the new filter on reinstall the plug and fill it up.

BeBeep, glad your buddy has a lift...so much easier and safer. I am sure that an A & P will be delighted at the simplicity of a Viper once one gets one's bearings. If, however, it becomes a burden, I will be glad to accept your fine Viper as a present !! :)

Take a look at this thread for a short discussion on jack points:

I'm assuming the Gen 5 belly pan is the same as the Gen 3/4 pan. If it is not, disregard.

The OEM Mopar filter is about 3.6"
I ordered the 3.6" to 4.2" spin on one.

I just completed my 1st oil change at 500 miles, thought I would add to this thread. Tools that helped were a low profile, long reach 2-ton jack, Tsco jack stands and an oil filter wrench from Home Depot (I could not get the filter off by hand)

- Since the oil pan drain plug is on the driver's side, (13 mm) I jacked up the car on the passenger side so the oil would drain. I left the jack under the rear jacking point so the car wouldn't move, not necessary but it made me feel safer.
http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i177/eric_mccloskey/20150814_151509_zpsda003b54.jpg
- I found the easiest way to jack up the car and get a jack stand under it was to use the rear jacking point and jack the car up high enough to get the jack stand underneath the front jacking point.
http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i177/eric_mccloskey/20150814_144027_zps98e0e161.jpg
- I let the oil drain until it wasn't coming out and I was able to tilt the rear up and down with the jack to make sure all the oil was out.

Please go to Forums, Gen V, scroll down to 'How To's' and the detailed instructions are on my post, fifth one down. It will save you trips out from under the car just in having all the right sizes, etc. And be sure to level it back down a leave it for 20-30 minutes. It takes that long to drain completely (if your anal!)

If you have the extra dough, and will be changing oil frequently for multiple vehicles, and dont have space for a vehicle lift, then these should do the trick.

I have the curbs these guys make, and the quality is top notch.

That's a good deal! That's exactly what I put in my car last month. I paid $14.00 per quart and had to pick it up. Everything is more expensive in Canada :(
