looks like even hardcore GM fans are impressed... at least those with their heads freed from their nether regions

The Dodge Viper ACR offers no automatic option, making this truly an in-your-face offering. Handling the massive 8.4-liter V10 through a six-speed manual can be the most rewarding feeling in the world, but you have to work at it.
I would be perfectly happy if the Viper always stayed a 6 speed manual. It's kind of like when Ford when to a V6 Turbo with the GT, sure in the name of performance, but look at those who say they don't care, the car lost a bit of soul with that change. A 6 speed manual is part of the Vipers soul IMO.

Don't worry, the C7.R Edition will put the ACR in its place with its aggressive sticker package.
Personally, I don't see the ACR in the same league as the Z06/7, the TA is. This is a step above.
I'd love for Dodge to release the Gen ACR's run at Laguna Seca before Chevy releases the Z06's run.

Or better yet, Dodge should bring a TA and ACR and invite GM to participate with their top of the line Z06 track god or whatever they feel they want to wage war with. Bring your own drivers so there is no complaining that the driver is afraid of the car, etc. Get all the cars on the track at the same date, conditions, etc.
Hell, invite Ford with their new GT350R too.
Do a timed one lap hero run and a timed 10 lap run.
Only a pussy would turn that offer down.

No even an article--just drivel.
Guess the author also elected to skip references to the extra weight the Z06 is carrying and consistent overheating. I have had 2 Z06s (C5 and C6) but am not a fan of the C7Z. Glad it exists, just not a fan and it is not in the same overall quality league as the Viper.

I'm really interested in the Laguna Seca run for the ACR. The TA did a 1:30 if memory serves with just slicks. This ACR has better brakes, suspension and aero with some really sticky rubber this side of a slick so it should be very interesting to see how close it will be to the McLarens P1 and Porsche 918 with 1:30 and 1:29 respectively.

I really expect the ACR to mop up the P1/918 times.

I would bet not. I saw one well drive at COTA. Nothing was in that cars zip code. They just ran the car side by side with the famous multi Lemans winner 962. It was close. http://www.roadandtrack.com/new-cars/car-comparison-tests/features/a25128/legends-the-porsche-962-and-918-face-off-at-indy/

I think it'll get close to the P1, but the 918 is just stupid fast. That is a lot of ground to make up.

The ACR will have the best chance in a multiple-Lap race with the hybrid hypercars. Those cars also have active aero which offers the advantage of stick when you need it (corners) and reduced drag when extra stick is not required as much (straights).

You should know better than this. If the ACR posts a better time than the Z06 is capable of, they'll just crash their test car into a wall and say it's too expensive to go back. Let the Z06 post a time, and release the ACR's time the very next day... that's what I'd do.
