Okay, so I started to release the round shift boot housing and then stopped. It released at where the finger is pointing, but didn't want to keep pulling too far upwards and break anything, even though the pulling upwards method has worked in my previous cars. However, when I stopped and pushed the piece back down, it didn't seem to fully grab or snap back into place... seems slightly loose at the finger even though it looks like it's back in place. Am I starting to do it right or do I start pulling up at that tab just above the pointing finger and release the black ring with boot inside the silver housing? if not, how the hell do I do this? I'm installing new shift stick and knob.

Also, what is the diameter of the sidewinder II's center caps? Might pick some others up.

As I was told, for the knob you can just peel the boot down. It will barely clear the jam nut, but you can manage to get a wrench on there. Not sure what else you are replacing there? Never saw any stick replacements before. It is low enough with just a knob.

I would like to know how to remove that part too as well as the vents. Thinking of painting them orange.

That entire plastic shifter panel lifts straight up, has 4 clips that snap it in place.

The clip with the finger pointing at it is a problem child. The metal clip itself likes to get stuck in the console and the plastic tab gets pulled out of that metal clip.

Remove the panel. Get needlenose pliers and remove the stuck clip from the console. Reinstall metal clip back on the plastic trim piece. Reinstall panel.

My 13 and 14 both did this.

Will do, thanks!

after you get the ring off, can you snap some pics of the ring itself (underside) and the base on the tunnel?

So much easier to figure out how to do it when you can visualize!

I use a set of these to remove interior parts. The one on the far left would work well here.

Yes, as soon as it is of jack stands.
