I know this has been posted before.

I have wind noise on the driver's side when traveling at speed, meaning 70 or above. It's not terrible but annoying and even my wife has noticed it. I thought I would have it taken care of while I had my TA in for an oil change and the seat recall. I had exchanged emails with Mark Jorgensen on the subject and he said there was no TSB/Recall but SRT would replace a part if a customer complained. I told my service advisor that and he contacted some office within Dodge called STAR??

Here's the communication:

The noise isn't terrible so I am going to wait until I ship it back to Woodhouse for fluid changes and have Mark take a look at it.

I have had great service at my local Dodge dealer for six years. The previous tech wasn't certified and this tech just got certified but not sure about him. He told me all oil comes from the same place, i.e., Mobil One, Penzoil, etc., not something I believe. I think things have changed. The reason I went to this dealership was because of my ex-boss' husband recommended the service since his cousin was the GM there and had them service his Viper. Sadly, his cousin recently died from a massive heart attack at the age of 33. They purchased a new Gen V before he died but after he died management sold it to another dealer to get rid of it.

Mine has it too. Like you say, not terrible but borderline annoying unless you have the radio turned up a bit.

Mine has it also, I thought it was wind going over/around the mirrors.

Mine has the noise too. And when I drive at 80mph at the interstate, the radio is not useful even at the max volume. But only my passengers complained, I do not care at all:D

My 2013 didn't have it, but my 2014 has it on the passenger side. Tomball Dodge looked at it, we did some test drives, but visually couldn't find what might cause it. As your letter states, the seals seemed good and everything fit properly. It is minor, so I've not messed with it since.

Hello! - I am new here, but have had my 2013 GTS since Sept of 2014.

I noticed the Driver's side wind noise on the test drive. It was so bad that you could get it to do it without the car moving and just turning up the blower fan (Non recirc mode - like pressurizing the cabin) with both doors closed. After the weather broke this spring I took it in for repairs.

It was found that there was "air leaking from driver door retainer on body. Removed retainer and added foam tape to back of retainer - reinstalled and adjusted glass".

The wind noise was fixed or sure is a million times better. Now I have one heck of a squeak coming from the door panel. Not sure how they go together, but I'm guessing some clips or something broken from taking it apart to adjust the window upstop.

I have a 13 and the wind noise was terrible and the dealer initially replaced the seal which did not change the noise and when i returned they replaced the retainer behind the seal which is of a newer design. I looked at both pieces to compare and really could not see a difference but there is a black foam tape attached and my tip would be to take the retainer out and add some additional tape in a few areas and the noise should disappear. My wind noise is much quieter just from replacing the retainer so focusing on that area should fix it and i would not make any glass adjustments since you will only open yourself up for additional problems.

Don't have any wind noise, but my driver's side door on my 15 TA 2.0 randomly doesn't want to close.. just bounces back outward a couple of inches. This happens with the window down or up. I was looking at the latch and doesn't seem to be in a closed state cause there's no hard hit when the door bounces back out.

This happened on my 03, and the internal latch mechanism needed replacing. Warranty item, but you may need to bungee-cord it closed while you drive to the dealer. I had to, as I would have needed a third hand to hold the door closed, while shifting and steering!

Come drive mine Mark. Then yours will be as quiet as a mouse.

Those of you that mentioned "retainer", what part exactly is that? Got a photo of that area perhaps?

The foam seal on the back of this metal channel was too thin and soft to seal the gaps where the roof and A pillar meet and wind would get through when cabin pressure was put on it causing a whistle, the new part has better foam.

The newest wind noise from the mirror area is not the same and I could not as of yet track down any problem, so it may just be buffeting around the mirror?

Thanks for the pics Mark! I might try and tackle that myself, just adding more foam or maybe a bead of RTV?

If that is it Tony just have the dealer order the updated parts, when we first discovered what was happening I relayed it to the SRT guys and the parts were updated, but the 2 we fixed before there were parts were a pain, cleaning off the old glue and then cutting a thin strip of foam tape out of an already thin strip lol. Trust me 10 minutes is way better than 2-3 hours. New part number is

Mark is this update really a 10 minute fix? Mine makes a slight noise around 70 mph and I would like to eliminate this but don't want to take a chance on making it any worse. Also is this a covered warranty item or just an upgrade. Thanks for the info...

I Had mine delivered last night. I also have the buffeting sound . It sound like its the drivers mirror area . At first I thought I had a blown speaker. To be honest I was a bit shocked as this was the first time I drove the car.

Have not seen inside door jams of new car but if they have it, the little mucket is probably not large enough, playable enough or sealing fully at speed. Maybe they don't even have one there anymore, older cars had them. Wind might get in right above mirror area where door meets body. It creates a turbulence area that seems to create a big pressure difference. Which finds all avenues to travel to the low pressure zones so it is hard to pinpoint the exact spot. My 06' coupe had this until we adjusted the in the jam seal with thicker 2 sided tape to tighten up that seal. Anyway I believe the problem is inadequate sealing in the area at front of door, where windshield meets the door, meets the body. Have seemn issue on other manufacturers as well.

If you are getting noise at just that speed then the fix above is not what you are looking for and actually is isolated to 13 and early 14' cars from what I've seen. You are probably hearing the mirror buffeting that is being talked about here also, I do not know of a fix for that.

That's great but does Dodge have a fix for it, I have it on the passenger side.

If the sound does not change with the fan speed when the A/C is on then the mirror buffeting is the issue and there is not a fix I know of. You can have them check the angle and seal of the window glass at the front of the door to make sure the seal is tight there though.

Hmm my '15 TA2.0 also has wind noise coming from what sounds like the upper driver side window seal 70+ MPH. Will have to experiment more.

Thanks for the reply Mark, Mine is a 2013 and I've noticed when I push up with my hand on the window seal on the inside of the car window while the car is moving at speed I can make the noise stop or reduce. I believe the update you spoke of is the correct cure for my issue, is this a warranty item or a owner upgrade?

Warranty will take care of it for you, they just have to verify it.

70 miles on mine its going in to get fixed. 100k there should not be a window noise like that. One lap on a test track would have flagged that.
Other than that I love it.
