First Make it TURN BETTER..
Then Make it STOP BETTER...
Then ADD POWER..........
If you are an intermediate-advanced track rat and want to turn better and stop better, why not consider a set of the Pirelli Racing Slicks for your track wheels? Viper Cup competitors paid $2000/set for these $2300 MSRP slicks. 305-18 fronts, 325-19 rears. ACR-X Viper Cup Spec Tires.
PartsRack has em on sale at only $1595/4. S/H/I USA $90-$120.
If you have 'outgrown' your Cups, Corsas, or Hoosiers, strap on a set and knock a couple SECONDS off your R-compounds lap times!
Other Pirelli deals:
P-Zero 18-19" OE Gen 5: $1239/set 4, no taxes, but $90-$120 S/H USA.
P-Zero 18-19" CORSA: $1449/set 4, no taxes, but $90-$120 S/H USA.

Jon are the CORSA 285 fronts?
No, they are 295-30-18, same as Gen 5 OE fit.
They fit Gen 1-2-3-4 just fine, handle better, and offer some 'wheel rash' protection that 275/285 does not!

That's a smokin' deal on slicks. That's the price of R7s. I'll pass this around to the gang and get back with you this week.
Thanks Jon

THANKS for the referrals!
The front slicks are brand-new 2015 production, right off the Pro-Series truck. The rears were made in early 2014, but never even inflated.

What is the ideal "hot" tire temperature and the recommended "hot" tire pressure for the slicks?
Thanks

Did you heat cycle the slicks? I typically run R7s (R6s) and always heat cycle them.
Kumo said to not to cycle them but his tire budget is different than mine....

I never have.
If you are only trying to get 1 event out of the tires it won't really matter, hence Kuno's response. lol Heat cycling will help them last longer over multiple events. One thing you can do is if you have a timed event (TT) or race is go out on a fresh set and do a lap or two on them a day before. Then just come in and park it till the next day.

I've never bothered either and would be hard pressed to be able to document any improvement, if you are going to follow Matt's advice though I would take it a step further and put it up on stands rather than let it sit on the ground for the curing process.

I plan to bring them to Hastings in a couple weeks and will heat cycle them during the "parade lap" day on Thursday. Then swap them out.

Haha. That sounds about right. I feel like I have heard the doorbell ring the moment I get off the phone with Jon cause the stuff I ordered gets here so fast. I don't know how he manages to work that magic and I probably don't want to know but it's spooky how fast he can get stuff to my door.

What's really spooky is how fast his stuff comes into Canada! He must have some back room deal with customs, his stuff just sails right on through.......

How many track days do you typically say in comparison to the r888r
