This is part of the email that went out to all registered attendees. Please read carefully and make a choice. If you choose Option B, I need to know ASAP to make arrangements.
Saturday May 30
Saturday we have several different opportunities for your driving pleasure. Please select your choice and let me know ASAP so we can make plans. If you choose to go to the Casino for breakfast you are obligating us to pay for your food. Don’t choose that option if you think you’ll sleep in.
Option A. Cherokee-Dragon Loop Leave hotel at 8:00 am.
Jason Mattison is planning a 150+ mile loop leaving Gatlinburg and going through Cherokee NC back to the Dragon with a lunch stop at Fontana. This would leave the hotel early - 8 am. - and is a beautiful drive through the country. It will be a 4 to 5 hour trip so get some traveling music if you want to go on this ride in order to be back in time for the parade. Breakfast would be at the hotel and leaving promptly at 8:00 am in order to get back for the parade.
Option B. Casino in Cherokee for breakfast. Leave hotel at 8:30 am.
Breakfast will be a buffet at $20 per person. An hour drive through the mountains to Cherokee. After breakfast you can visit Cherokee or you could be on your own or go over to Maggie Valley - 13 miles away - to see Wheels Through Time Motorcycle Museum where Dale Walksler has promised us a personal tour at reduced rates ($8.00?) around 11:00 to 11:30 am. If you have seen "What's in the Barn" you know who he is and how entertaining the trip will be. You need to let us know if you are interested because we must guarantee to pay if you commit. Do not choose this option if you want to sleep in. Please let me know ASAP is this is your choice. We must make reservations by May 1.
Option C. Visit to Maggie Valley and the Motorcycle Museum Leave on your own from hotel.
Party hat still on from Friday night and not interested in getting up and leaving that early but want to see the museum or go to Maggie Valley? We'll have maps to get you there. You can make the drive to Maggie Valley over the Blue Ridge Parkway at the Chimneys on HWY 441. About an hour drive and you can leave the hotel when you want to get to the Museum by 11:00 am or so.
Option D. On your own in Gatlinburg or run the Tail of the Dragon Again
Some folks want to run the Tail of the Dragon but not a 150 mile trip through Carolina. We will have maps to take you through Pigeon Forge and Townsend and you can make the choice to go up and down the Tail if you like. This will still involve a 100 mile drive. Some of the local businesses have offered special rates on things – like the roller coaster – and we will have more information on these events soon.
If you want to do Options B or C and would like to visit the motorcycle museum, let us know so we can call Dale and give him a heads up on number of cars and people coming.
