Clear Bra on the Rocker Panel?

Anybody done this? I was thinking about putting a clear bra on the front of the car and the rocker panels but then I thought about the amount of heat the exhaust generates at that location because of the exhaust. Would it melt? Anybody have experience with this or anybody have this on their Gen V? Thanks for the help!

My rocker panels are fully covered in clear bra along with the front bumper, 1/4 of the hood, behind the rear wheels, and mirrors. I have a 1" x 3" wrinkle of sorts that developed after the passenger side CAT got too hot during auto x but most people would never notice it. It's doing its job of protecting the paint and that's what. Care about.

I just noticed you're in Illinois. The father/son team who did mine were based out of Chicago and drove down to central IL to do mine. I'll have to look up their name for you unless someone else local can think of who they are first. I know they do a lot of the work for Roanoke.

Track my ACR and have clear bra on both rocker panels with no observable issues at all -- you should be fine and highly recommend doing it on all Vipers.

docwviper: Per my sig I'm using SunTek Clear Bra on the front, rocker panels, and behind the rear wheels, and have had no problem with the product or its durability. If you haven't tinted the windows yet, Solar Gard Ultra Tint is also a great product and really cuts down on the heat generated from ultraviolet rays. Some installer shops will give you a discount if you purchase both so it pays to check. Good luck... and enjoy that GTS LE - great choice!:orange:

If you decide to have it done there is some care you need to take. When getting in and out of car when the side sills are very hot, DO NOT TOUCH. You will create a scar on the film. Otherwise no issues.

I don't know if they are the best out there or not. This is the first time I have had one of my Vipers done. There are a few flaws and wrinkles on my car, but I have no regrets and would definitely do the treatment to all future Vipers. I had it done at Roanoke before the car was delivered.

Yep, that's the guy. He's done all of my cars and I rarely have a problem. He'll come to you if you have a well lit/clean place to install.

I do the rockers, never had issues. I also have tim do the insides of my wheel wells on all painted surfaces, stops all the rock chips churned up the wheels.

We did the rocker panels ourselves, and we have an apt Sat am to have the nose, first third of the hood, mirrors, and behind the rear wheels done. We are installing Expel Ultimate.

Originally hesitant on the pre-cut templates, the front bumper turned better than expected, only visible seam is at the air duct. I'll need to take another look underneath to see where coverage ends.

The rear quarter panel, See PIC highlighted in black line. Wraps underneath to cover the rock prone area. The installer has offered to redo the piece to extend vertically above the reflector and terminate at the panel separation, still debating. As it stands now the seem hides well enough.

also, how far do the factory cuts cover underneath on the rocker panels and nose? I wanted coverage to cover the complete painted surface, but seems like the computer cuts don't extend that far.

I have the pre-cut 3M and it wraps down till it goes horizontal on the rocker. In addition to the above areas, the 3M kit also includes:

Full front wheelwell
Gills (to front of the door)

It did not cover:
Rear wheelwell
Lower area behind rear wheels.

Front Bumper Bottom, the film is rolled just underneath front the edge. Going to speak with the installer about covering the rest, plenty of unprotect paint down there.

Hood Scoop Air Duct. The seams is outlined roughly. The inside portion of the V is unprotected. It seams are well hidden by the orange paint.

Front Bumper Driver Side Air Duct. Same scenario as the hood scoop air duct. Slight V lower and upper portion. Again visually hard to see.

I've seen the template program from XPEL, they can manipulate any of the edges, extend, shorten and so on. They just need the measurements for that section.

I've pulled the rocker panels for a redo or install another piece to cover the remaining section. The installer did try to extend the film underneath to cover the entire lower section, however the film would not cooperate and bond. We suspect it's due to the OptiCoat not curing completely. Leaning towards a redo to avoid the seam lifting over time.
