I have a green car and red valve covers which don't look good to me. I decided to paint them. Removing them from the car has turned out to be a big job.

Has anyone here removed their valve covers on a Gen 4. Mine is a 2010.

The injector harness was a pain but got them off. I have removed the driver side valve cover.

The passenger side is another story. If you want easy access to the back bolts you have to remove an air box in the rear corner which involves taking apart what seems like half the car.

The rear bottom valve cover bolt is the most difficult.

Before I take apart a bunch of stuff or GIVE UP, has anyone done this job?

I would be interested in hearing from anyone who has some advice.

Thanks.

You can do them with a series of swivels and wobble extensions and 1/4" drive. Loosening the airbox on the pass side is just a series of screws to pull it up enough to get the valvecover out. I think the hardest part is getting the injector harness plastic holders out of the valvecovers. Those things are crazy tight but just have patience and they will let go.
