I'm looking to upgraded my 14 SRT with the OEM, Carbon Fiber X-Brace. It seems there are 2 available. OEM & aftermarket. I want the OEM at the

aftermarket price point(or close to). I would hope that if enough members were interested, we could do a group buy and make this happen! All we need are

a couple of the vendors competing for our business. I'm in!

I would also be interested if the price was good enough on the OEM X brace. I have all of the other exterior CF on my 2014 GTS already. However, it would have to be a really smoking deal...

well thats 2 & counting.. I don't know how many Gen V owners are on this site, but I would think we could get at least 25+ (members & enthusiast's). let's see!

Cash, I think this plank has been walked before. The margin on that OE part is crappy. I have ONE OE in stock I will sell at my cost. But it is nowhers close to Extrems' aftermarket one. SERIOUS not curious inquiry please to: JonB@PartsRack.com

Note: I have seen both OE TA and Extreme side-by-side at Sebring. The Extreme with color-keyed STRYKER is nice touch, and TOP quality. And hundreds cheaper

JonB, I've only seen the TA x-brace in person. To me the pic's of the after market x-brace look really high gloss and have that bling factor I'm not a fan of. I did call the VP store. Quote(from the order taker): It is Fiberglass base with a Carbon Fiber wrap. That can't be right.. Is the OEM solid Carbon Fiber or CF over fiberglass? I have no idea.

looks like $2k for an Extreme on Ebay. Are they less expensive anywhere else ?

Jon,
Do you feel the aftermarket X brace offers the design aspects as the factory option?

I am only interesed in OEM.

Based on Jon B's input above in terms of margins, this may be a tough nut to crack. Thanks for the info Jon!

Ive been to Extreme. Theres nothing at all inferior about it. In fact, theirs may be a bit stiffer.

All their carbon is well executed.

I would go OEM only on something like this as well. No offense to Extreme.

Per a response where I had previously communciated with Wayne @ Extreme:

Mine is very close to the T/A's. It is 8 layers of 12k twill with aircraft epoxy resin the main difference is they cure theirs in a autoclave it puts about 300psi I use compression molds and put around 500psi on the part during the cure in the oven mine is stronger and I offer the snake any color you want.
Thanks
Wayne

/end.

Pricing is MUCH better on Extreme's brace. I've seen both units in person and there really isn't an immediate difference in appearance unless you're holding both sidexside. Oem is 9k twill fwiw.

Thanks SS........... I can get more OE in a few days. Serious Buyers can call me at 360.837.3937 like SS did. My price is 'group buy' low as I can go....

And DONT rule-out the Extreme unit! PartsRack offers the Extreme Supercars Viper menu too......West-Coast Hours! (MAZAK Note)

X2

And I would be curious to see if, going after market on a part important as the X-Brace, could alter the warranty in some way....

What is the weight savings vs non ta brace? Is this the reason you guys want to swap or is it mainly for the looks?

mblgjr

The CF brace is approx 1/2 the weight and stiffer.

Maybe I missed it above but what is the approximate price on the OEM carbon fiber brace??? I'll most likely go w/ Wayne but was just curious...

couple pounds IIRC

The OE T/A Carbon unit is 3 lbs lighter than the stock SRT or GTS unit.

You could probably save as much weight by taking a good dump before driving.

Yes but isn't that just good advice anyway? Regardless of X-Brace choice?

The $2650 was posted back in February 14 by Woodhouse and Bad Boyz Garage. Mopar prices probably dropped some since then.

What is with the big secretive nature when it comes to pricing on parts in the Viper world? Is there a specific reason vendors aren't allowed to talk about price openly? I'm the type of guy that hates to look like some tire kicker wasting your time, so if I see I have to contact you to get a price, and the price is what will determine if I am ready to purchase or not, then I won't even bother asking just in case the price is out of my budget.

It was like that on other forums as well. Many vendors gave good deals and sold below MSRP which was why they couldn't promote their prices openly.

I think I paid 27xx shipped for an Oem TA spec about a year ago.

The Xtreme unit is about 15-1600

Having seen/handled both units now theres no way in hell Id pay 1k more for the oem brace now.

cashcorn

other than price, what are the differences?

mblgjr
03-15-2015, 08:44 PM
Cashcorn see one of my previous posts for material differences/details.

The Extreme unit is likely a bit stiffer.
