I'm interested in hearing GenV exhaust clips and wondering if there is somewhat of a consensus on the best setups for performance and sound.

american racing headers with cats and stock mufflers. it's sounds like a race car.

I just installed my new ARH 3 inch catback with ARH Headers and no cats, and love it. My new favorite and I have had three different catbacks on my gen V with the ARH headers.

clips... we need clips. Let's make this a sticky. I want my GenV to sound at least as good as my Gen2. Need options.:)

Does this 3" setup include a muffler?

I just ordered a set of ARH catted headers and they will be installed on the 9th. I should have some videos from the before and after dyno runs.

Not going to happen IMO. I had the full Belanger exhaust on my 2000 RT/10, it sounded truly incredible.

I've had several combos on later gens and while improvements from stock, I don't think there's a way to get gen2 sound from the side exhaust.

Currently I have Belanger headers & hiflows mated to stock catback, the sound is a great improvement and very loud, I wouldn't want my exhaust any louder than this for side exhaust ... which is 2.5ft from my ear.

No clips due to snow, ice, cold, polar vortex, arctic enema, sleet, freezing rain, you name it.

This is what is on my "to-do" list! But without the cats!
Any sound clips you could share?

American Racing headers, catless 3" American racing exhaust here. I love it.

On order Belanger headers with cats mated to stock exhausts or Corsa. I'll have 2 choices, and will go with the one that has less drone

I have both, one for the track and one for the street. The one they sell is with mufflers, the straight pipes are a request only :)

I haven't had a car with headers in a while but I know that you typically get a lot more noise and heat under the hood and it changes the character of the car somewhat even vibration up front. I'd like to hear some clips but I was hoping that maybe just a 3" cat back with high flows would be the ticket. I really don't like the pop on the unloaded decel when standing still.

Charlie, maybe I'm just getting old, but I think the Gen 5 sounds really good stock, especially when winding it up. Of course, it's been so long since I've driven mine, I think I've forgotten.......!

But following this as well.

This could be your ticket on sound, but not performance. Cats and catback swap will yield nearly no performance change. If you want power, you'll have to get into the headers. The gen5 cats and catback combo are too efficient, other than maybe a few ponies from straight piping it, but invest in an ear plug for your left ear.

Can I fix only a Belanger or AR headers on stock exhaust? Will I still get something good and save some cost?

Belanger of AR headers PLUS their high flow cats are popular options to be paired with our stock cat back. I'm very happy with this setup on mine and my wife has never complained that it's too loud. If I were to replace the cat back I'm sure she would hate riding in it, I probably would find it annoying as well, and there would be virtually no Hp gain to make it worth it.

Calling Nine Ball. He has that exact setup and has posted some video clips.

I was talking GenV exhaust options the other day with someone that recommended American Racing headers and high flow cats. Anyone have a clip of that setup ?

I'd rather not do headers if I can get a nice note with just high flows and a cat back but I'm not ruling anything out just yet.

Any issues with the smell or CEL's ? What was the total gain at the wheels with the exhaust and PCM ?

Arrow PCM would negate any CEL. This should be 700hp crank?

I have the Arrow PCM. That means no CEL's. Of course it stinks, unless you like the smell of unburned fuel vapor. Can't smell it when moving, can't smell it with the windows up. Sidepipes always stink on non-catted cars, sitting at a redlight with windows down.

Haven't dynoed with the exhaust added.

Hey Charlie, Have you made any decisions yet regarding you exhaust system? I've been thinking about something like your talking about with stock headers and high flow cats and cat backs.

I haven't. I'm waiting to hear what just a muffler delete with the stock cats would sound like. Anybody try that yet ?

Hi all,

Can we try and update this thread with as many set up vids for exhausts as possible?

Having a very hard time trying to decide what set up to go for!

You have a supercharger, AND a 350 shot? is that a stock engine? :O

Yes. stock internals. Was 250 shot here.. moved to 350.

Yes. stock internals. Was 250 shot here.. moved to 350. Not as bad as it sounds. I use the NOS Launcher to gradually bring the N20 in.. only way it can remotely hook without some traction control.

That's awesome! Where do you think the limits of the stock internals are?

Sorry to bump this thread, but I cannot find any results anywhere.

Has anyone done ARH mufflers only? Or secondaries removed with ARH mufflers? All results ive found were mostly cars with headers.

Don't be sorry! I wish more people would bump threads instead of starting a new one.

Honestly your best bet is google. Or the search function on this site.
It seems a lot of people ditch the ARH mufflers for Corsas as the ARH are too much like stock.

CNU_Physics

Ditch them because they sound too much like the stock exhaust? Or are too quiet like a stock exhaust?

Sound is tough to capture, I did a quick side to side video with OE vs HFC/Corsa when I installed mine: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3bMAMd1Llu4

No headers yet.......when we were at the Viper 25th at the Conner Plant my wife said, some of these GEN V cars are quiet :D

I really want to hear what a Corsa exhaust sounds like in person on the GenV. I've been debating whether or not I'd ever change out the stock exhaust, because I love the way that sounds. Anyone in North VA have a Gen V with a Corsa catback?
