Has a Viper motor ever been used in a single engine airplane?

It seems like it would be good, right? Fuel injected, good torque through the powerband. Wouldn't it be a good option for some of the WWII replica planes or air race planes?

Perhaps you aviation buffs can chime in for me in this.

Thanks.

Weight Matters ! Size Matters. Anything could be made to fly I guess, thinking of the 1000HP Allisons in the P-51

Oil Starvation is a Viper issue...imagine the G-loads and inverted flying!!

I bet DICK WINKLES COULD DO IT !! Off to Red Bull...............

Well he has time to do so now. Wouldn't the oil starvation issue be an easy fix? I could see that being a problem for any motor.

I assume these days people like turbo motors for altitude. Though couldn't a supercharged Viper motor work well? I thought it was pretty light for the amount of power it makes. How much does the 600hp aviation engines weigh?
