which model are guys using? I track my viper 4 or 5 times a year so i'm not looking to hard wire one in, looking for a rechargeable unit that is good. any feedback is greatly appreciated. anyone have any experience with this one?

I use an iPhone app called "race trace."

I put the phone in the car and I get all my times.

For grins, I was running a race at Sebring and there was a transponder on the car…so I velcro-ed my phone in the car to see how accurate it was very close!!

That sounds like a good option. This might be a dumb question but does the app pick up the start finish line like the transponders do or do you have to set it or turn it on and off manually?

AIM solo DL, can plug into obdII or can, and will give you all the info you want and more. Also can plug the camera in and have overlay data. Nothing easier that works this well.

After the first lapping session, you "set" the start finish and it remembers it forever.

I don't believe an I Phone App is going to be the norm for Tack Times....Might be ok for for spirited driving in HPDE,
but for Time Trials, & W2W you need a different type of timing device. I would suggest speaking with the series director your
involved with to see what they require..

i usually run with speed ventures and they just confirmed that the AMB x260 works at all the tracks they run at. thanks for everyone's input.

Yeah every organization/track that I've been to use the AMB (now called MYLAPS) transponder. I just bought one myself (you have to lease them now LOL).
Did you hard wire yours? Where did you get the hot wire from?
