While some of the options in the GT/GTS are nice, to me it is hard to justify the premium for them. I am on my 2nd "base" SRT and I still love it.
Personally, unless I got a screaming deal on a 2013 (Which I was hunting for) I'd go for the 2015 (Which I did)
Though, Carl Burger has a LOADED 2014 GTS, i mean everything in it ($155k msrp before reduction) for $105 which is just crazy.

OP, I would hunt for a left over '13 or '14. There was one from champion dodge (socal) that recently sold for 71k, thats a brand new 2013 SRT Viper.
To find a good deal you have to look everyday (2-3x a day!) on all car sites. Google Dodge dealerships within your area just to see or how ever far you're willing to travel/have one shipped.

I may be selling my Red SRT soon. It has leather seats, red seatbelt, backup camera and 18 speaker Audio upgrade. Currently has roughly 2700 miles. I ordered the new Cayman GT4 so possibly looking to sell my Viper. Make an offer.

Could have had mine last week. Would have been a little more then the $71k you quoted but not much.

GT4 Cayman is an interesting car. I heard they might not be delivered until fall though?

Its ironic….I gave away my GT4 order…I was #1 on the list - get order a TA 2.0. The person that took my spot already placed their order. Some lucky people will get the GT4 before the German summer break….others after.

The GT4 is a great car, but I think you get much more for your money with a TA2.0.

Man this Orange TA on eBay with no reserve with 5700 miles just went for 84,900. Would've jumped on it if I were willing to spend more than 70ish k on my fun car. Here is the link: http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&alt=web&id=251831427262

Orange TA

Whoever buys that is in for a rude awakening when they try to bring it across the border. Even if they do get it into the USA after paying fees and duties, they'll still have no factory warranty.

All things equal I'd rather buy a Viper from a sponsor like the Viper Exchange who supports the Viper community but there's no way I'm going to pay a big premium just to give them business. I work too hard for my money to give it away.

A dealer I had been talking with might be willing to take high 70s for a 2013 red GTS. They told me 80 but I'm still debating what to get. There's also a yellow 2013 GTS which has the track pack which you might be able to get for that amount. PM me if you're interested but in my opinion you shouldn't spend anything over 82k for most 2013 GTS models out there. The car is almost 3 years old!!!

The premium can be. I think right now with new or barely used (sub 3k mi) cars out there, it's hard to justify the premium. I think that premium helps when you are dealing with a car that is a few years older or a smidge more miles and then you are buying piece of mind, ease of negotiation, clear title, etc. but right now with some desperate dealers and brand new cars, I hear ya.

I don't know why everyone is so hung up on Viper Exchange/BJ's/Tomball...all the same. You all know that there are other sponsors here, right? I support a sponsor who talks to customers as an enthusiast with straight-forward talk, good pricing, and no BS. That sponsor is John Gastman from Roanoke Motors in Illinois. He's been a Viper dealer since the beginning and seems genuinely interested in helping the customer, not just selling another car. Give him a call V10powerr. He'll help you understand your options and give you a fair deal.

I contacted Roanoke about a 2014 GTS I was interested in. John Gastman contacted me and we had a number of correspondence back and force. The funny thing was I could really never get a price of him on the car and well as my trade so I moved on. As long as we're talking about sponsors (even if it is off topic) Bill Pemberton at Woodhouse seems like a great guy to tell with.

Funny I had the opposite experience. My only comment is that it's great if a sponsor gives you the deal you're looking for. The button line is it pays to shop around.

This. I've had good conversations with John Gastman, and good conversations with Bill Pemberton. Both seem genuine in wanting to earn a persons business. If/when I use my Voucher and buy another new Viper, it will be from out of state. Woodhouse has the benefit (for me) of also dealing in Ford products.

When I was looking for my 96 GTS, John Gastman helped me, not because he had one in stock, but because he originally sold them to people who he still had contact with. He tried to find one for me, and there wouldn't have been a dollar in it for him. No one he knew was selling at the time so in the end I found the car myself, but it just goes to show you: he is good people.

I think in reference to the OP's post, any options offered need to be under those price points. He's saying he's not buying these new ones because of price, posting cars over $100k if you're not interested in a '15 at $82,500 isn't going to help much. I've seen TA 2.0 order in at $98k, so to me a used TA would need to be well below that unless you had an event you needed it for like asap. The challenge would be trying to get under that $82.5k you posted for a new one. If you're ok with a base SRT then I'd try to find a '13 track pack car (first 150 made, not very exclusive since there are so many identical, but they are about the "oldest"). Looks like you're shooting for a $7Xk's number, I think I've heard of maybe 3 that sold in that range that were great cars and not a basket case or something, so it's a unicorn. frankly, I think if someone finds something at the price point you want, they'll buy it, lol, I'd continue to scour the car sites, Carolina's and cali seem to have some deals on a regular basis, but it's a serious hunting mission you're on, & prices may start moving up once the winter breaks for the majority of the country, so time would be of the essence, if you find one, buy it, the last time we saw a great cat in the $70k's it sold in 5 mins with half this club chasing after it. I know cause I bought it.

I would have to agree. The last 3 TAs I have seen for sale by dealers were listed between 92 and 96K. And that was the asking price not what they actually sold for. So low 90s for a 14 TA would be reasonable.

I've owned a lot of cars (and Vipers) and I am at a loss why someone would do that.
They either just woke up and realized the can't afford it, or have severe buyers remorse about the color or performance but who wouldn't know that going in?
Even if you break even on the resale price (doubtful) assuming it was registered you had to pay sales tax so at a minimum you've lost that.

If I remember correctly, those TAs all had 3,000-6,000 miles and were used and abused based on what people saw when checking them out in person. In other words... you get what you pay for. I believe the TA models will have an aggressive target market when they go up for sale. Time will tell!

I agree that you get what you pay for. Like DMan said when you can buy a NEW TA 2.0 for under 100k, I think one would be hard pressed to sell a used TA for close to that. When dealers are giving 6-8K off MSRP that does not help the used car market at all. The one that sold for 98K well either the buyer wanted the car immediately, or he didn't realize that he could have had a new car for the same price. Thankful for the seller at least, who made out very well.

The TA 2.0 will have a smaller target market IMO. Between the color choices and the funky wing in the rear, I don't think that car will be anywhere near as demanding as a 14 TA will be... maybe I'm just biased?

HA! I take it you own a TA. Well then of course you are biased. LOL
Well you can order a TA "1.0" (if you will) for '15. In almost any color. It just wont have the serialized plaque.
I agree with Synergy that time will tell. As winter ends I think we may see a rebound, this winter has really crushed some perf car spirits out there, lol.
SRT has so many options now, for those who want the absolute leading edge version, the TA 2.0 is there with the emblems and latest aero. I love it, and I'm not a wing fan, but for function I can take it, the colors I agree. I can't get over how they have Prefix and they choose these weird colors, Y'Orange should've been Billet Silver IMO this yr, black, well OK, but seems like not a great track car color and a bit plain for a special edition (and I love & bought black), seems like a cool type of white - like with a tone in it would be cooler, but I think the colors are the most limiting thing on the 2.0's. But what a deal, to land one under $100k is just a no-brainer if the color & wing are good for you. I could see someone choosing a '14 TA for the color, it's just the mind game of paying for a used one for what you can get a new one for is all. They're all so damned sexy and capable.

Ya it was actually a combination of he didn't want the 2.0 wing and didn't hesitate driving it immediately home 9 hours in the snow and salt. He kept texting me on the way saying how much fun he was having...

What your referring to is the TA GROUP. However you can get a real TA just like last year. Only with no numbering. Talked with Woodhouse yesterday. There is a lot of confusion with this. You can't get all the colors in a REAL TA. I think Bill said 5 of them only. That's why you can't get a REAL TA on a GTC build.
