Picked up number 2 Black TA from Roanoake.

About once a week for the last few months ive been browsing the internet for a black ta, just to see if i could find one, last week i finally found one! I wasn't exactly in the market being i had a 2008 viper and just 5 months ago purchased a 2014 z28. I called wondering if it was a black TA as the website didnt have a photo ended up on the phone with John Gastman and he told me this car just became available after being held up with deposit for quite some time. I told him i was basically just inquiring to see if it was a TA but told him what i had to trade, we worked the details and needless to say the next day i was on my way to Roanoake IL 7 hrs away with the z28 in the car hauler and my buddy driving 2008, we was gonna switch driving my truck back and forth, but i think he just enjoyed driving the viper, being around 10 degrees most of the way he did a awesome job. Not sure ive every seen the owner of a dealership that involved, John was great to deal with, has a passion for cars/vipers, and even took us over to see his insane mopar collection! Great man and will def. buy my next viper there. We stopped 300 miles short on the way home and unloaded the car to start racking up the breakin miles. The great thing about this Gen V is its such a better street car as well, the interior is wonderful, it looks amazing, especially in person, and seem much more like a finished product than the last. So many things are better than on the 08, shifter, clutch, chassis feels much stiffer, dash, radio, seems to pull harder down low. I had MCS shocks with 800/1000 springs on my 08, but im liking these adjustable bilsteins so far, the street/race mode really makes a big difference in feel, race seems to be to stiff obviously for the roads in WV but street is right on. All in all im super happy with my decision, a little bit sad i didnt get to enjoy the z28 a bit longer, but i did get to take it to VIR before the winter and it was a great car. Just like my last viper i plan on tracking this one a good bit, will be at VIR Feb 28th/ March 1st to test it out. A White TA will be there as well, so that should be fun, if i can hang with him:) Heading to NCM in March and Mid Ohio in April. Will get some videos up when i get back!

I too tried to buy that car from John last year and was unable to do so because of the deposit you metioned. No issues though, because John was able to find another black TA and #27 found it's way into my garage. I had an 09 Coupe and a 99 TT Viper before the TA. This car is by far the best Viper that has ever been produced. It is infinitely better at being a car without losing that Viper edge.

I just noticed today that this TA disappeared from Roanoke's website. I like watching what he has since he's 30 minutes from me and where I've bought both my Vipers from. As Track Pack said you may have just bought the very last new TA in the US. Have fun!

Is that orange I see on the intake covers? Didn't they some with Red covers? Black is so sinister that's for sure. #2 is a bonus. The trade off was def worth it that's for sure.

Congrats, and welcome to Gen 5 ownership! I know a couple Z28 owners, and they love that car. I know it's apples to oranges, but still interested in hearing the comparison. TOo bad you couldn't keep the Gen 4.

Black number 25 car, there was only one option on them and it was ac/3 extra speakers which added about 40 lbs to the car. Mine did have the option which most of them did. I put the 1500 break in miles on it, spend only one day at vir, then another couple hundred street miles, it had around 2300 miles total. The car had clear wrap on fenders, hood, roof, etc. If you contact john at Roanoke he will let you know where the car went, im pretty sure he had a gm dealer that was gonna take it.

I'm looking to get either a Gen IV ACR or orange TA so I'm wondering, how do they compare in terms of street comfort? I'm not looking for a super comfortable ride but I would plan on driving the car a lot on road trips, for example. Oh and congrats, the black does look really sinister!

The car was really good out of the box, blame it on the tires, suspension, diff, engine, whatever. It just worked well. I track an e46 me sometimes and also used to take a e92 m3 as well. The biggest thing on my mine about the z28 was i didn't seem like a camaro should handle so well. You can feel the weight of the car, but there is very little body roll if any, the brakes are phenomenal and almost every time you realize that you brake to early. The initial bite isn't extremely grippy but it scrubs speed incredibly fast. The z28 just simply turns as well, there was a few times i got over steer on entry which im not used to, there is a tad of mid corner under steer back to slight oversteer on exit. I really wish i got to spend more than one day at the track in it. Was a really fun car. According to my data viper on slicks vs z28 as it came, the z was about 2 mph slower mid corner, i think that would be fixed with slicks, the late braking is partly because the brake ares awesome and partly because your not going as fast either. The Z28 was about 15 mph slower than my viper on the front straight at vir, 140 vs 155. All in all its a very cool car, looks great, and will surprise alot of other makes on track.

Ive drove leslies acr on the street, and i would say they ride very similar. On the Ta I think the race setting is a bit to rough for the street unless your on a freshly paved road. Compaired to my 800/1000 lb springs on the gen4, the ta rides much better. Having a big ass wing the rear the cars must be over sprung to compensate at speed, seems at lower speed the acr/ may be a bit stiffer in the rear, but at speed its not bad.

It is going to be pretty hard to find an orange TA. I have both a Gen IV ACR (white with GTS blue center band and white driver's stripe) and a 2014 GTS (white with Gunmetal stripes) with the TA's aero. Not exactly a TA but close enough. My ACR has ported heads, ported intake, headers, and Mopar controller. It is very fast. Faster than my stock GTS. I prefer the seats in the ACR, the Gen 5 seats hurt my back unless I use a lumbar pillow. Ride in the ACR is a bit rougher over the road but not uncomfortable. I've put lots of highway miles on it. The GTS feels more solid though and the stereo is better even though I have a Kenwood retractable screen unit in my ACR. You can play movies on it while driving. Gen 5 interior is much nicer except for the comfort of the seats.

I am trading my ACR in on a 2015 Gen 5 TA 2.0. Bill Pemberton will have it at some point. It has 25,000 miles on it but it is well sorted.
