It won't be down for breakfast.
Well, they maintain 72 public forum areas plus 2 private member forums (and several other private secret society forums).
1 area hasn't had a post since 2011.
1 area hasn't had a post since 2012.
18 areas haven't had a post since 2013. So that's already 28% of the forum that's essentially a corpse.
Alternatively, there are 11 areas that have some activity over a weeks time. That's 15% of the forum that lives.
Other than for the (rather obviously) false appearance of global domination, I can't for the life of me understand why they don't take a trim.

The sad part is who is actually visiting the forums......
"There are currently 746 users online. (52 members and 694 guests)"
Going to be hard to keep the place going when 93% of the visitors are not paying to be hanging around.

Even sadder that the VCA site gets more traffic than the VOA site, though.
VOA: "There are currently 460 users online. 212 members and 248 guests"
As long as it attracts more users, it will probably stay open; depending on how they manage their funds. It appears that even VOA members like the OP are still actively visiting there for information.

The Gen V section has literally nothing of value. Other Gens still have a lot of info in them.

I wish a reconciliation or merging could have been done or something. I was one of the guys bouncing back & forth, but due to the info being richer here and the trolls poisoning without control there, I ended up here and generally don't surf back over there muchl, and using this online resource I felt it only right to join to support it.
When spring comes, and events start, we'll see what happens, I know the local guys in the VCA and like them very, very much, all the junk that happened was at an altitude way above us.
They are doing a car raffle presently, Hellcat or value against a new gen5, so that's something. I haven't re-joined, but receive all the emails and guys are staying in touch via email & text too, which is nice. I just don't think about it right now, I hope the wounds that did exist are healing with everyone, we all seem to be focused on the cars now, which is great.

I'll say this, they do have the first post of an installed Venom PCM and road testing, I just went over to see the forum ... of course there's an immediate troll post or two on the thread, but in case anyone's interested in a first write-up, nothing remarkable, no dyno yet.

Can you clarify what that means for non computer website traffic experts? About 18 months ago I posted that the current user online numbers at the VCA were always very high.....it didn't matter if it was a Sunday night at 3 am or Wednesday afternoon at 1:00 pm, the numbers always were in the 1500's or more. It just seemed strange to me that those numbers never seemed to fluctuate.
Then magically they came down to under 1000 users on line for most of the time.....do you think those numbers were or are being manipulated?

It means you can say "there are 29 actual people online + XYZ what we say there are", where the admin can set XYZ to be whatever you want.

I agree 100% Who cares what the VCA is doing. VOA just needs to focus on making itself the best it can be.
There's a difference here between discussing the VCA website (or any topic for that matter) and disparaging the VCA. There's no need to deliberately avert our attention from another Viper club. The VCA, like it or not, is still an "entity" among Viper owners. Why should we avoid discussion of the VCA (or in this case their website) as long as it remains rational and informative. As far as I'm concerned, we should neither avoid or chase after VCA topics. If they come up, so be it. But let's not feel some obligation to stick our heads in the sand. Let's just deal with it rationally.

I couldn't agree more with both of you...
If someone is not a fan of the VCA why go there and look to see whats going on, and why comment negatively. I may be new here, but have been in the Viper community since 2000 and a previous member of the VCA. I don't know what occurred that some people chose to leave there or the reason for a new site. And you know what I dont care nor will I sift through pages of threads to find out.
Hopefully those that had their pee pee shut in a door will get over it and act like adults, and get back to being contributing members to the Viper community weather its here or there. I know there isn't a ton of chatter on either forum but there has to be more informative things to discuss than how many people are posting wherever.

100% agree. This thread is nothing more than gloating at the expense of another club. Like the gossips who enjoy dishing the dirt on the bad fortune of their neighbors. People keep saying the VOA has moved on. Threads like this prove we have a long way to go.

And what is it we are supposed to be learning that's so informative? How to gloat about what some would think is a dead carcass? Or beating a dead horse? Or just saying, "Nah-nah nah nah nah"?

Right now the main value of the VCA is the wealth of knowledge base and information on their forum regarding posts and threads in their archives, specifically the Gen 1,2,3 and 4 sections. They are very light on Gen 5 knowledge base.
I think the VOA should make an offer to buy the archives from the VCA so they are available here too. The longer the VCA waits to sell, the lower the value will be. Regardless of how each club would feel about this, the reality it would be good for the Viper Nation and that's what matters, right?

I was not gloating. I'm not even sure what to possibly gloat about. I too think the OP was kidding. But these threads do give insight into how VOA members and Viper enthusiasts feel about the split. There's some venting no doubt, but that's part of the "healing process". I simply don't see any reason to deliberately ignore and avoid any mention of the VCA because doing so would constitute some lack of "moving on." Isn't "discussion" the design and nature of a web forum?

I am aware of several attempts by the VOA to initiate "merger discussions". I also know that we were rejected outright. I'm not blaming either party, just explaining that the VOA officers have not been standing on ceremony. Most everyone here believes that one Viper club would be best. Getting there is another story.

I just thought it was interesting the VCA G5 forum had basically died, there is also zero activity.
if you read the post it was specifically addressing the G5 f orum, not the VCA itself. Since I spend most of my time at the VOA, I had not realized how low their activity was.

Agree, I knew you weren't meaning to take a jab at them but more of making an observation that the migration of info sharing for this Gen Viper is here not there. Didn't see it as gloating either.

Don't forget, buying a raffle ticket is akin to rejoining the VCA. Since the VCA nets @75% of the ticket revenue, that $200.00 ticket nets them @$150.00. About the price of a Venom membership. BEWARE.

Not talking about guys, talking about trolls. Nice thing here is trolls are well managed. As for gossip, dunno, all the drama was above our local clubs altitude. We just hang and have a good time with vipers whatever the acronym of the club is. This is about Internet resources, not peeps, clubs or gossip.

I take full responsibility for my behavior. I just couldn't pass up the chance to quote karate kid. That's my fault. It's a problem I have.
Ordinarily I am the first one to say not to waste our time or effort bashing another club. That the best thing we can do is put our energy into being the best club we can and let things shake out as they may. I feel we should set the standard for behavior, not drop down to a level beneath us in an effort to "win" or show how our club kicks ass and theirs does not. So for that, I do apologize,
But c'mon, Karate kid quotes. I had to! William Zabka even follows me on Twitter.
I guess it stems from the fact that fear does not exist in the VOA. Weakness does not exist in the VOA. Mercy does not exist in the VOA.
