Carolinas VOA - FIRST EVENT OF 2015!!!

Hello Carolina VOA Members,

Blow the dust off your Vipers folks! It's time for our FIRST event of the year! This year we will be firing off events in all three zones so everyone has a chance to get together. All three events will be held on Saturday, February 21, 2015. If you are a new member, this is a great opportunity for you to meet other Viper owners. You will soon find that being part of the club truly enhances your Viper ownership experience.

You may attend any of the three following events:

1) Our main event will be held at Mayhem Motorsports in Raleigh, NC on Saturday, February 21, 2015 from 10:00am - 4:00pm. We will have exclusive access to their Dyno for 6 full hours of unlimited runs! Last year was a lot of fun with 14 Viper in attendance. Best of all, this event will be a FREE to all Carolina VOA members and includes FREE lunch!

2) Western Zone: If Raleigh is too much of a drive, on the same date, Patrick Brown (our Western Zone Director) is hosting a FREE luncheon to Carolina VOA members. Lunch is scheduled for 11:30am at T.Mac in Huntersville, NC. Patrick is arranging reserved seating and parking for our snakes. Patrick has had some great turnouts in the past, so to be sure he arranges enough seating and parking, please RSVP by posting here...or by sending him an e-mail: patrick@carolinasviperclub.com

3) Southern Zone: Member Kristian Ray is hosting an event for our Viper friends in South Carolina. Yesterday was awesome...70F and sunny. Went to the range and shot some clays and ran a few rounds through the Beretta 9mm. I need to run the RT/10 a bit. Last year I had the Roe 93 octane tune in it and Mayhem had to stop my dyno run...started to ping. I'll bring the SCT with me this year and revert back to the stock tune and run that for comparison. Should be interesting. :-)

With my luck, the restraints on the dyno will magically release and I'd get red paint all over Mayhem's wall. :D It's a leasurely trip south, double cheeseburger with extra crispy fries, and great conversation with great people!!! Oops, forgot that while returning from the luncheon last year one of those truck tire alligators got painted red when I couldn't avoid it on US 52... :( Maybe I'll walk...

Great news. Got car back from Tom today. We are all fixed. So I'm going, weather permitting.

P.S. dealing with Tom has been the best service/repair experience I have ever had. Fast, very affordable, far exceeded my expectations.

Weather permitting I was wanting to attend the dyno day in Raleigh. I am curious to see what I am working with but I still have some issues with it. Is it safe for the car? Some people say yes some say no.

I wouldn't say it is necessarily "bad" for the car. You basically take it up close to redline once or twice to get your stats. These motors are made to run, so I wouldn't be afraid to try it. If you don't feel comfortable, that's okay too. Some guys just show up to hang out with others and observe.

BTW, it is possible that we may be postponing this event due to this week's weather conditions. We'll update you all very soon.

I am probably not going to attend, my business has been shut down since Sunday and looks to not reopen till Friday( hopefully) so I am probably going to work Sat and try and make a few bucks.

WELL, due to the inclement weather, we have decided to cancel our Viper events for this weekend including the Raleigh Dyno, Western Zone Luncheon, and Southern Zone Luncheon. The roads will likely be clear by the weekend, but more rainy weather is expected and salt / sand residue will still likely pollute the roads. :(

We are hoping to work out some alternate arrangements before we get too close to our March 21st event. So sorry folks, but we'll keep you all posted!

The good news is we can use those funds to help offset another major event this year!

No road treatment last night and the disaster less than an inch of snow has caused so far this morning (50+ accidents), the snow event now forecasted for us on Thursday will most likely result in an over-reaction in road treatment. If it does, I won't be driving the Viper on Saturday down to Charlotte.

Yea, the road treatment is what I'm worried about - I'll keep an eye on it and make a final decision most likely tomorrow. I hate to cancel again, but there's no reason to bring the Vipers out on nasty roads even if the weather forecast is clear.

Alright guys, I'm going to go ahead and make the call to cancel Saturday's lunch. The snow is over, but the roads are going to be filthy over the next couple of days with all the melting and pre-treatment that was put down; I don't want everyone to bring their Vipers out in the mess. Doesn't look like we're in for any rain to wash the roads off either. The lunch won't be rescheduled immediately since we are so close to the maintenance event in March, but I still plan to have the lunch sometime in the spring or summer. T.Mac was very interested in us coming by, so they'll be happy to have us whenever we can fit it back in.
