New Posts requires log in?

Forums do not require you to log in but why is it that you have to log in to view "New Posts"? Or is it something Im not seeing or doing right? Thanks

Almost every forum I'm on requires you log in for certain features. New posts, search, view pics attached to threads, etc.
I guess they're set up that way to get more people to sign up. If you sing up you're more likely to come back. The more members and hits you have, the more you can charge people to advertise on your site.

The reason I asked is the VCA "new posts" does not require you to log on and is VERY convenient to see the new stuff posted without logging in. Search and view pics is another story and of course does require a log in.
