Repost from the FB page.

Drama around it.
Viper beat it first run.
Viper missed a shift 2nd run.
Hellcat owner posts vid of 2nd run only.

Do I hear rev limiter too?

Yes, the Hellcat is fast, not as fast as a Viper though. It's freaking heavy as can be... With the auto trans, you're not gonna miss the shift. I compare it to driving a boat around, just faster... LOL The interior seems enormous after driving the GTS.

The halo car should me much faster than a hello kitty. I like the one of 1 of 1 hype but not enough to increase sales.
Dodge did a great job w the kitty but left the viper behind in the process
2016 needs a power increase

Wow I can't believe they posted that vid. I was there and watched Mike miss the shift he was pulling back in each gear albeit a little but wouldn't expect it to pull one by much.

Ask them to post our heads up dig race were I ran 10.84@133.5 to the Hellcats 12.0@120 lol.

The build quality of the Hellcat is so poor that it could be a 9 sec car, and i still would not consider it. Have you seen the stitching on the bulky seats? and don't get me started on the rest of the interior! Not sure how they managed to build the Viper, raw experience but still with an awesome interior, paint, and much much more. Job well done!!

Gotta disagree there. The build quality, interior and exterior is excellent. I loved m7 07 SRT8, and if I had the dough and the room, I'd have a Hellcat in addition to the Viper.

And, they handle MUCH better than people think. No Viper, but for a car of its size, it's impressive.

Nothing wrong with the video and even in his comments he says they are both amateurs and says the Viper missed 3rd so hes not hiding anything. The Hellcat is fast and if you race one you better be on your game. Just remember. The Hellcat driver is just as proud of his car as we are of our Vipers. Plus its a Dodge. Good for them for making it and congrats to the owner. He says right in the Youtube description hes looking for more races with Vipers. Look him up and go have some fun.

Really? He had plenty of races with Vipers that day and this might have been the only race he won due to a miss shift. You then publish that video with that title? It has nothing to do with pride in your vehicle and has everything to do with misrepresenting what was really happening that day.

Oh ya. Forgot to mention. If he has any balls he will post the other videos as well. BUT if he posts the video of you smoking him at the drag strip you know how that will go and everybody will be whining that you aren't stock so it doesn't count etc etc.. I just like watching all the videos. Its good to see everybody win once in a while. I don't take it too serious. FYI, the guy that made the video didn't originally mention the "amateur" or "missed gear" statements in that video description, until a few of us that were at the event called him out on it. They clearly wanted to unveil a video to stir up controversy, and depict the Hellcat as unbeatable. They didn't show the other run these two cars made - where the orange TA walked the Hellcat.

Basically, scripted BS media. No real relevance here.

So, if you miss a shift, just let off. Don't try to keep running, especially with a Hero cam on you, lol.

It's the internet, what do we expect. It's flattering that peeps orchestrate a vid to make it seem like their car is on par in any dimension with the Viper.

As for build quality, unless a lot has changed, I agree. At VOI12, I drove the challenger and charger SRTs several laps and I was surprised they were so plastic and low quality in feel and appearance. In pics they looked pretty nice, but in person, I wouldn't buy one based on my driving them at speed at VOI. Now the SRT Jeep, that was amaze-balls. If I were going to blow money on a utility vehicle to that degree ... well, I'd probably buy a Raptor, but a close second would be an SRT Jeep. If they Hellcat a Jeep, I can't believe there'd be a vehicle in it's category that would even be close to it. But talk about niche categories.

I guess we have to be grateful he didn't title the video "Hellcat annihilates Viper", like he did with the c7 z06.

With titles like these and the cherry-picked videos he loses enough credibility with me to even buy his "stock car" claim.

That is veteran racer speak. Mike is a noob when it comes to this stuff. I actually hit the brakes if I miss a gear, to accentuate that I wasn't in the race. The only time I'll force the gear is if I'm still winning :)

Truer words have never been spoken. I've been in drivers' meetings where ding dongs actually call out mustangs, etc., to pay attention and move aside for the faster Porsche and vette crowd because turns are involved. Only to go out on course in my GT500 (albeit modified) and lap those Porsches and Vettes within 10 minutes. Not saying my name is Mario, but some peeps don't realize how much better their car is than they are, and vice versa. Man, people hate being passed by American muscle cars, todays Camaros and Mustangs embarrass many a driver out there in 'sports cars', it's so much fun when you have one of those days.

I learned VERY quickly how shitty of a driver I was on a track when I did a few race schools. The first one I did was in Cobra replicas and I was having trouble keeping up wih the instructor in his rented toyota camry...LOL.. Not joking. He could drive. I did a few track days as well with my 05 Viper. On one of the runs I was killing myself to keep up with a 911. I was pretty pumped that I kept up to him all the way around. Then I realized he was on his cool down lap and didnt touch the brakes once.. HAHAHA. The worst and most embarassing was when a guy in a hopped up new Mini was schooling me in the corners. I could get by him on the straights no problem but the corners he could just fly. At the end of the lap he would be right with me. The corners is where the real men take over. Anybody can floor it down the straight away. I really wish we had a track closer to us but its a 500 mile drive to the nearest track each way. So I am a poser with my ACR as I just cant get away to go and enjoy it. 4 kids keep me pretty close to home too.

You ought to see the peoples faces when I take a Fiat 500 out during an HPDE session between races so I can give a friend a ride along. Guys in $100k+ cars DO NOT like looking in their mirror and seeing a Fiat all over their ass. You can literally FEEL some of their disdain of putting their hand out the window to point me by. It's not ALL drivers, but the 911/GTR guys seem to take the longest to give the poor little Fiat a point-by. lol

For those that didn't know, I was the one in the orange TA. I was out there all day and put in around 20 passes. I was putting my Helmet and GoPro away when the guys in the Hellcat approached me, requesting a roll race from 60. At that point I had already checked out of race mode for the day and was trying to prep myself for the 2hr drive home. However, seat time is a good thing and they mentioned Hennessey wanting to see how the car would do against the Viper from a roll. I took the bait recalling the drivers meeting where John discussed not posting BS videos online, embarrassing other drivers. It's hard for them to act like they weren't there considering John made most of the passes in the Hellcat that day, including the first one. Actually, I was told the Hellcat owner only made a few passes as the driver.

So, we ran the first race from 60 and I got him. It wasn't a clean run and I couldn't hear the honks. It also appeared like I was 1/2 car ahead of him before the race started, so I didn't consider it a true win. The reason I agreed to the second race from 50 is because it took the Hellcat guy 1/8 mile to get to 60 and we ran out of track quickly. I told him to get to 50 faster the second race, which he did. He honked 3 times (i think) and I simply lost track of the tach and banged it off the limiter for what seemed like forever. I should have got on the brakes, but didn't (lesson learned).

Like others have said, wear your GoPro's and get on the brakes if you miss a gear. The thing that bugs me is that I should have known better. I could care less about losing a drag race after missing a gear, shit happens and you learn from it. Also, I'm not embarrased about it because I'm the guy in the Viper and they're not! LOL

Then when you watch the other video angle of this run it doesn't sound the same? It sounds to me like they dubbed the white cars exhaust over this one on the other angle. It was also stated that the cars did NOT run on the same day which is why they performed so different, looks like the same day to me.

Something still doesn't add up here.

I also have a hard time believing the numbers. Plugging the mph and weight into a drag race calculator spits out 886 crank hp. However, even a 127 mph trap is still mighty impressive for a 4,500 pounder (4,700 with driver) and implies a more believable 770 hp.

At a roll race the weight plays less of a role, so the dust has yet to settle... I have no particular fascination with the Hellcat, just curious to see a few clean pulls from various speeds.

Maybe I'm in the minority, but why are we comparing a drag car to a road-race car? I'm all for doing either in either car, but let's be fair - it's like saying my wrench kicked your hammer's ass when pounding that stake into the ground. Sure, the wrench may have been a ten-pound monster and got the job done, but it really was designed for something else.

Update.

Last night both of these Hellcats (10.48 and 11.0 car) ran again. The black 10.48 car snapped the drive shaft first run, and the white 11.0 car ran 11.1@126.

Someone there looked over the black car and said that there were 4 holes drilled in the trunk and an impression in the carpet from where "something" previously was.

Anyone hanging their hat on the "stock" 10.48@133 Hellcat run might end up looking silly in the long run. These are auto cars as well.

I have seen a few snapped axles on these cars posted now. Sticky sticky will do that.

Two on that same car. Over 4,000lbs will do that as well from a dig.

lol just tossing on some drag radials is snapping drive-shafts? Dodge obviously didn't beef it up enough. As for the 10.48 car, obviously a little shot of nox.

Yes.

But every other car on my article list did not. Hellcat came in last place, at the track.

Yes, but as Nineball mentioned everyone was beating the Hellcat. My car is not stock nor do I claim it to be.
