Great job Tony and thanks for having me out even though my car is "modded". Great to see the Vipers come out on top!

Tony what were the 60's on the two Z06's on drag radials on their best passes?

The Hellcat videos were from another crew, friends of the car owner. They will break the C7Z internet with that one. At least I won't be blamed again :)

No kidding...the tracks around here close well before you get a chance at a DA even remotely close to that.

Sorry Nineball, we're calling B.S.

Those are all fake cars and a fake drag strip. Fake ET's and fake trap speeds....it's so obvious you're on an agenda to cause us great stress and make our self esteem lower than the quoted DA. You were probably involved in the fake NASA man on the moon landings too. We've got your number and it ain't going to fly. Just admit it now and we won't have to call in the authorities.

This forum is really falling short on tech content...I think we need to start some discussions about the best wax to use, how to dry your car (before waxing it, of course), and maybe where to source a Mobil 1 oil filler cap.

And yes, those threads actually do exist over there.

Anyone remember back in '06 when the C6Z came out with 505hp and it traded blows with the '06 Viper Coupe? Two years later Dodge brought the 600hp Viper and it was game over specially with the ACR.

Anyways, does anyone else think Dodge will bump the power up in the Viper and maybe put an Auto or some type of dual clutch tranny to take the American Crown again?

A 2010 Gen4 should run even with a C6 ZR1. Did the Hellcat get into the 11's at all ? Supposedly the Charger is quicker ?

Man I really hope that don't go the auto route. It really killed a lot of attraction to the Z06 for me, I feel like these cars need a manual transmission to really be appreciated.

Awesome comparo, looks like a fun time by all. Guess no invites left for the "kids".

134ish stock trap must of been a nice tail wind gust, or tony's ego exploding from all the ass kissing and properling him into the traps ;)

And I just can't get over the ZR1 traps, I've seen those cars trap 130+ in positive DA time and time again with my own eyes at HRP. Don't know what, or whom, but somethings up with that specimen.

I never contended his driving skills, what I'm saying is the car seems to be down on power. None of the ETs that day were particularly impressive (given the surfaces), but the DAs allowed for some very nice traps. And its in this lack of trap that the ZR1 raises my eyebrow.

His Sport Cups were old/worn and he said he had spinning spikes at the top of each gear. Traction wasn't there.

Great work Tony.

It's so refreshing to see a straight up, real world comparison done by enthusiasts rather than companies that like to favor conditions or tracks just to suit their specific cars so they can get better results

Also very nice to read/watch something that just comes down to how these car perform without the relentless and exhausting bickering about 'this car is ugly' and 'that rear end treatment is the worst'.

Well done....looking forward to more comparisons between these awesome performance cars

From the owner on CF;

Tell those guys spreading rumors that it was actually it was more like 4-5 car lengths.
We did three rolls between 45-50 mph and he honked on all of them. On each run I spun the tires and went sideways when I smashed the throttle in second gear. That is why he got the jump on me every time. The first time I stopped at around 85 mph and around 100-110mph the next two races. They wanted to find an empty road somewhere for some dig runs but I didn't want to because it would've been even less traction than when I raced him at the strip. The passenger also recorded that run where I beat him by at least 1 sec. If they put up the one where he "beat" me on the highway then I also hope they put the one of when I raced him heads up on the strip.
I think my traction was so bad even in 2nd because I had taken off the drag radials and put the cold stockers back on for the ride home.
I had a feeling they were going to be talking about it even after I told them that I lost traction on each run but it is what it is.
I did the same to a c6z a couple weeks ago we raced from about 40 mph and walked him every time but I'm not on here bragging that I took down a c6 z06 because I could tell that he spun the tires every time and never caught up. I started in 1st gear but the traction control would save me a bit and I got traction midway through 2nd.

I feel bad for those guys as they are going through some similar feeling of initial letdown that happened in Viperland. When the Viper lost quite a few of the initial tests and street races lots of Vipernation felt the same letdown. Now the same Snakes with owners with a lot more seat time are now taking names. Maybe given time to learn it better the Z will then have a better showing? I hope so for there sakes.

The Gen 5 Viper didn't lose many races at all. In fact, I don't think I've ever lost a race against another stock vehicle. The Gen 5 was eaten alive because it was expensive, and was only 40hp more than the previous gen. Not really about performance, other than the infamous ZR1 putting a better lap time down than the Viper with mis-matched tires and a missing hood vent.

Once the C7Z guys tune their cars they will be fine on power--more than the Vipers, but in the gray area on warranty. C7Z is great, but I definitely would not trade my Gen V for one. I think it is also highly debatable whether the C7 Z07 will be faster than a Gen V TA (or TA 2.0) on a road course as is claimed on the CF. I suspect Dodge has that issue covered irrespective of the presence or absence of C7Z heat soak/ecu issues.

It is definitely a good time to be a car guy! (Or gal!)

I've read some of his posts....unfortunately he is wrong on some of the mechanical knowledge and especially the aerodynamics of a C7 and how they work. I've actually stopped looking because his posts have become so long winded but have little relevant substance that he didn't repeat 3 months ago, then 3 weeks ago, then 3 days ago, etc.

Ah yes, the pessimistic ramblings of Peter.

I will say, his banter is quite witty, if only it wasn't so devoid of reality;

The results of this newest "shootout"? More misinformation and phallic inadequacies causing a severe rift between Corvette and Viper owners, with the organizer trying to self gratify himself as the main objective of this little gathering. Performance wise, no new grounds discovered, due to different tires and wheels removing "stock" from the comparison but this is besides the point. The guy can handle the stick and loves being watched by others while doing so.

I was lumping the the two mag tests it lost(Laguna and Willow) with the street losses against an MP4 and if memory serves a GTR, hence the "quite". Yes not a lot of losses overall.

Ever get a chance to run an MP4? It would be nice to see that one avenged or at least a closer race a la Huracan.

Yes it surely hasnt lived up to the hype so far. I am eager to see how the top shelf Z(full downforce package etc) does against the TA on a roadcourse. No need to involve the 2.0 yet ;)
