Dragon Tales Number 10 For the Tail of the Dragon May 28-31 2015

Tail of the Dragon will be back for NUMBER 10. It is January and we need something to look forward to during the winter months while our Vipers are snug in their dens. We will be holding our 10th Anniversary Tail of the Dragon event from Thursday May 28 until Sunday May 31 in beautiful scenic Gatlinburg Tennessee. Our good friends in the Carolina's Club will help us co-host this event as we are expecting a good turnout - last year's 75 Vipers were not quite enough - and this year we are hoping for 100 cars. We will be posting a registration website to give us an idea of how many to expect and how best to prepare. The site will be up soon with more details. The Greystone Lodge will be the host hotel once again and they should have all rooms updated by the time we get there in May as they are starting the last bit of renovation soon. Stay tuned for more information. It will be an bucket list event and you don't want to miss it.

Hi Joel. We had such a spectacular time last year, that we knew this 10 year anniversary had to be on our list of things to do this year! We were blessed with a visit from Fred and Rita last fall,..... such lovely people from your neck of the woods. I made the trip last year (first time). It wadnt meatly as bad as i thought. You could caravan down with the group from Cincinatti! We had ablut 20 or so cars last year!

I actually live 20 mins from the tail. Another great road to drive is the mountain road through the smokies. The road that takes you from cherokee casino to gatlinburg. Its about 25 miles of fun roads beautiful senery and no cops.

I've been up there 3 times for Zdayz (Infiniti G, Nissan Z, GTR owners) with a couple of my previous cars and had so much fun... I'll definitely try to make the trek with the Viper.

Well, just found out that my daughters prom is on the same Saturday. This means that i will be attending the Dragon without the wife. Just me, the car, and Slacker radio playing extremely loud.

If anyone decides they ever want to come up I live 20mins from the dragon. We have a group that runs it all the time on good days. It's been my experience that it's more fun to run it in the winter. They never salt the tail so you dont have to worry about that. You wait for a 50-60 degree day so you know there is no ice. There's no cops or traffic in the winter so you can take it as hard as you want. Tons of fun. Just hit me up.

Maybe you can do both...assuming the prom is Saturday night, you can run the dragon on Friday, have fun Friday night, get home in time for the prom date to pick up your daughter and take photos.

Thursday is generally a travel day so coming down on thursday shouldnt be a problem.

Most folks have used Thursday as a travel day but last year we had about 15-20 folks who made a week of it and lots of them run the Dragon and other roads in the area during the week. We will have the registration desk set up on Thursday but not before. We don't have any events planned for Thursday except a couple of dinner suggestions and we're working with a restaurant to have something for folks to do that evening.

And, since I've made the drive to Maine several times, I assume you'll have a 2 day drive to get here so you might as well enjoy it. Some folks take the Blue Ridge Parkway in to the event. It is a beautiful drive - if the weather is good - but you can't make a lot of time. There is plenty to do in the Gatlinburg area and, if we hear of folks coming in early, we'll try to hook you up with some folks already there. The hotel has agreed to offer the event rates during the week if you mention the Viper Club event. Got several folks coming in from Nova Scotia so you might find some company on the road. You may give me a call or pm if you like but whatever you decide, coming early or staying late won't be a problem for you to have fun. You won't regret the drive - that's for sure!

We will be staying at Chelmsford Mass., on Monday the 25th., so we can arrive in Gatlinburg on Wednesday. Not sure where we're staying Tuesday yet. Hopefully you and some of the NE guys can make it. As Joel said, its worth the drive.

Yes. Instead of coming in on Thursday eve and staying at CB exit, we're going in to Gburg wed, and will make the drive back to CB in Kville Fri morning to get that group (usually 20-30 cars) if anyone else wants to do the same, we'll coordinate that as well.

Start lining up at hotel around 7-715am on Friday. That group leaves for the Dragon and Tellico Plains around 745am.

Does anyone know who this is? I was following them on the dragon Friday and they had a go pro mounted on the back of their car. They should have some good video of my Violet ACR that I would love to get.
