Was discussing at breakfast this a.m. with 3 other viper guys as to what the differences between the various gen 5s are. Some confusion ensued. Can somebody in the know give a resource or give a synopsis of essential differences from base,GTS and TA.Is there a huge reason why acquiring a base may not be a good idea? ...thanks in advance.

It's all the same car with different trim. TA is for the track guy, GTS has higher end interior and is more comfy. Track times are all very similar but TA is technically fastest. All three are street legal race cars.

Nothing wrong with a base SRT. It's actually the best value.
You should get a good break down on all from someone, but I can tell the difference that mattered to on not considering a base. SRT took away the track pack option and there are 2 things I felt mandatory for me; the 2 piece rotors, and the stability system - full version. The base only gets a basic stability, on or off system, and Ralph said the one thing they spent the most money designing was the advanced stability system with the track setting, so I wanted that, you only get it on the GT, GTS, or TA. I got a GTS that has the track pack and the advanced stability system. But only reason I'd pass on a base would be the basic stability system with no track setting. If stability systems doesn't matter to you, then base is an awesome buy, bang for the buck.

SRT- Base Viper. NO adjustable suspension, Six vent hood, your back to basics Viper.
GT- Essentially the GTS Lite. It has the GTS' base interior, adjustable suspension, GTS hood.
TA 2.0- More for the track guys. Improved aero over the original TA's. Different rotors VS SRT, GT, and GTS trims. Has SRT interior.
GTS-Can get all the bells and whistles. Adjustable suspension, 18 speaker stereo, Laguna leather, STRYKER color options.

This, and Base has zero mode suspension and 2 mode stability ( on or off). All other models have 2 mode suspension and 5 mode stability.

These are the things that mattered to me that I found when trying to figure this out myself.
SRT-base model ballistic nylon seats, no power seats, no adjustable suspension, no leather upgrades in interior
GT- Power driver seat, seat upgrade to the Alcantara insert seats(best road trip seat as it reduces swass), 2 mode suspension, slightly upgraded leather interior bits
GTS- Power seats on both sides, available laguna leather option available, 2 mode suspension, more sound deadening
Someone mentioned HK 18 speaker stereo as a GTS appointment. But it is just an option package that you can order on any car. Same as wheels.
There's an upgraded interior option for the GT that I've been trying to get some information on. Bill at Woodhouse has been trying to get all the info out of Dodge without success over the holidays. The option gets you all Nappa Leather instead of the Alcantara inserts (which I don't like) at an MSRP cost of $3,000. It's not the Laguna interior but all leather. I'm waiting for pictures and specifics on the option.

Unless something has changed for '15, there was always a leather upgrade available for SRT cars. My '13 SRT had it. Honestly though, after having the ballistic cloth in the TA, I prefer the look and feel of the cloth.

2014 and 2015 Vipers, ALL of them have the extra sound deadner standard now. 12 speaker Stereo is also standard in all 2014 and 2015 Vipers now as 9 speaker set up is a one year (2013) only setup. Lots of undocumented changes in 2014 and I am sure we will find out the same in 2015. Value is improving each year which really makes the case to buy new each year if you can afford it.

Supposedly they just came out with the $3,000 interior upgrade option I mentioned. I'm not sure it's even available for a base SRT but it might me. Leather vs. the cloth seats is a personal preference but the Alcantara inserts are definitely not for me so I'm glad there's additional options.

Maybe something did change? The option brochure that someone posted here in another thread shows no option available to upgrade seats in the SRT.

I unfortunately had to go with the full leather as it was included in the GTS I found. Going to have to go see an upholstery shop and see if they can perforate the leather and install a fan in the seat for me. Nothing I hate more than the endless back sweat that comes from hard leather seats. I always loved my SRT-8's for their suede/microfiber insert that breathes and prevents that.

I didn't think people even sweat in Canada. ;) You could probably find someone who would be happy to switch your Laguna seats for the Alcantara insert seats. I know I would if I had them.

I have a 2014 SRT that came with leather seats. A $3K option.

Yes you're right. After digging and digging and more digging, I finally came up with an option sheet for the Viper on the drivesrt site. Wasn't easy to find. They sure need to work on that site. This spec sheet is for a 2014, not sure if anything changed for 2015? One thing that looks odd which I did;t know about. In the SRT you can't get NAV without getting the GT package, according to this option list anyway.

I'll let you know this summer. You can check it out when we all go for a cruise again.
I know this may sound like a stupid question, but does the 2015 GT come standard with the Black rear applique like the GTS? or is it body color?

The 2015 Viper site "Configuration" shows it 1) with black painted rear applique and 2) no "polished" rattler wheels (hyper and black are only rattler options)
all the 2015 GT that i've seen so far, have body color rear applique and polished rattler wheels. I'll be quite annoyed if mine shows up with either of those options.

Thanks for your quick reply ViperSmith. Thats exactly why I asked as well, all the 2015 GT's I've seen have had body color applique whereas the website configuration and the option list states that the black rear applique is standard on the GT.

Wondering if the GT you saw were with or without stripes...I want to order a 15 GT with stripes and hope that the area near the license tag is the same color as the car and not black.

They were without stripes. Maybe there's a body color option. Hopefully someone can clarify this.
