Well as most of you know I had a 2005 Lamborghini for sale recently, it sold and I almost instantly found a TA I wanted to buy. Exchanged a few emails with Marc and we came to a deal. I offered to send a deposit but he wasn't real worried about it, just made a deal and he said the car was mine. Pretty refreshing to do business with someone like that.

Well after that I started searching for transports, which made me pretty nervous. After price shopping that stuff my fiancé Lydia asked "Why don't we just go get the car, then drive up to spend the holidays with your family". Which I thought was a great idea, just knew we would be on a pretty tight schedule.

Dec 23rd we flew into Fort Lauderdale Florida, rented a small car and drove a little over an hour to where the car was.

On the way to return the rental

Rental returned, car is packed and we are headed north!

First time driving the new car. Instantly impressed with this thing! Still feels like a rowdy car, but its comfortable and the new tech isn't bothersome at all.

We knew we were going to run into rain, but we had no idea the extent. Talk about underestimating the weather. Right at the Florida/Georgia border we ran into some CRAZY storms. After a few miles in the rain we decided to pull over and get a room for the night. Glad we did, just 2 miles up is where the storms killed 4 people and did a lot of damage.

The next morning we woke up, shocker still raining its ass off. Hours, and hours, and hours of driving in the rain. It was only this bad for 1-2 hours. We didn't really have time to stop and still get to my families place for our plans. So we trooped through and just drove slow. From 20mph and passes people pulled over up to about 75mph the entire day.

Well mid-late afternoon we made it to Franklin TN, finally! It has now rained on us the entire time from the Florida border. Pretty over the weather but still impressed with the car.

After spending the night there we decide to head back to Franklin TN to say our goodbyes and make our way back to Texas. Luckily we planned on taking our time, because its still raining. At this point in time we can't do anything other than laugh at the weather situation we are in.

I did not expect to be this impressed with the car at all. After 2000 miles I just assumed I would be over it, but thats far from the case. This thing just continues to impress me. The technology advances they made are non intrusive, they really don't remove any of the raw factor a Viper has always brought to the table. After owning a lambo, GTR, ZR1, etc… nothing could match the rowdy fun factor I've always gotten out of Vipers. I go through a lot of cars, but I would really like to keep this one for awhile!

Big thanks to Jason/Malu59rt, Marc/OrangeTA, and my fiancé Lydia/dubyas6 and Chris Wimen at Dallas Auto Storehouse. Jason was a great help with researching and answering all the random questions I had. Marc was great to deal with, had an awesome car and made the deal easy! Chris handled my Lambo sell and buying this car. Lydia was a fucking trooper, she was a bad ass navigator, helped with the weather and drove a lot on the trip. This would have really sucked without her help and support! Other than the weather, this couldn't have been much easier!

Great write up. Sounds like a nice bonding experience with the new T/A. I think you answered one of my question about the Corsas in the rain. My ACR had Pilot Sport Cups and they were like skis in the rain, very dangerous in the rain and cold. Sounds like the Corsas did great for you. Beautiful car. Congrats!

What a great writeup. And wow - these cars don't melt in the rain. Coming from a Gen3, I wrote up something similar after taking delivery of my car last October. Three months later, I am still continuing to be impressed with the car. You have WAY more seat time in it than me (about 400 miles for me), and I agree, the "nannies" are really not intrusive. Great photos, and a nice little travelogue. You're a lucky man - gorgeous car, gorgeous fiancé, and obviously a man of taste. Happy New Year to you, and enjoy!

My Gen4 seats were a bit more comfy, the Gen5 seats seem to be sturdier and give more support. Haha that Supra is a very long term project of mine, as with most people that try to build 2000hp street cars.

I'm really looking forward to seeing how ell these cars do in Jan/Feb with so many people finishing up mods on them. I'd love to do ported heads/intake, full exhaust with no cats, nitrous, slicks.

I might direct your attention to some of the first press videos of the Gen V. The press event was in the wet and no journalists spun out even so. In recent years, Dodge/SRT has had to worry about this thing in the DRY.

Great write-up, Will! I enjoyed that. It makes me remember when I picked up my '13 in Detroit, and drove it back to Houston. IN THE DAMN RAIN. LoL. I was worried at first, being on the "track" tires, but the Corsa tires were actually very good in the rain. Might even be better than the Michelin Super Sports I now run on the car. Ahh rainy memories.

I think it was raining so that you couldn't post some 180 mph blast videos :)

Awesome for your girl to suggest it, happy for Grandma's surprise - I'm sure it meant the world to her, as did your trip to your father's grade, may God rest his soul. Great VOA community. Good luck on the wedding - happy Vipering. The White T/A is what persuaded me to consider the white/black GTS I bought. White is very underrated in pics.

John Dodson @ Anything automotive in Corinth Tx did all the work on the car, he had it for a total of 2 days!!! James Karger at Calibrated by Karger tuned the car. I'm really really happy with how this thing has turned out so far.

American Racing catless headers
American Racing 3" exhaust
Underdrive pulley
K&N drop in filter
smooth tubes
HP tuners
spring caps

We didn't do any dyno baselines. It seems like most TA's make 530-540rwhp
