Things have been pretty quiet on our regional board lately, but that's to be expected this time of year. However, I received some news today that might spice things up and get you excited for next year! Information on the next Supercar Run has been released!!! I'm not sure if this is being put on by Supercar Specialists, (the guys that have done it previously) as the meeting place is not at their shop, but the info is coming from within that community of folks so it's a safe bet it'll be much like previous supercar runs. (Hit up Youtube.com or search this forum for footage)

Devil’s Supercar Run 666 - Sports / Exotics / Supercars
500+ miles & 500+ curves in one epic day
Saturday, May 2, 2015

Breakfast Meet: 6:00AM - Butterfields on 7388 E. Shea Blvd
Driver's meeting & Roll Out at 7:00AM SHARP
Return approx 7:00PM

Facebook event: https://www.facebook.com/events/522935634508980/543267242475819/?notif_t=plan_mall_activity

Because of the length, they are encouraging people to bring navigators. The previous run attracted approximately 150 of the fastest cars in the entire valley and it was a sight to see.

DISCLAIMER: This is NOT a Viper Club event and should be participated in at your own risk. These are some of the fastest, most expensive cars in the world and some of their owners have more money than brains. Most will handle their cars appropriately but previous events have seen some pretty reckless driving including weaving through traffic, sustained triple digit speeds, unsafe passing, tailgating/drafting, drag racing, and passing on the shoulder all on public roads with traffic. They make even the most aggressive drivers in our group looks like befuddled little old ladies. For this reason, the route for the run will NOT be released until the morning of the event at the driver's meeting. Info on this event will remain vague and somewhat sketchy as it is passed by word of mouth and social media due to police interest.

All that said, we had a pretty good time last year. If you have Facebook, join the event(if i need to send you an invite let me know). If not, stay tuned to this thread, and I'll try to update if and when information comes/changes.

I think they changed it cause people kept stealing the sign. I have driven the part up by shiprock plenty but it's boring there. I have done the portion near morenci too on long drives when I do Tucson to Alpine. That part is a blast. So many turns. And much of it is cliff side. And the dust blown out on the road makes for an interesting drive.

Here is some footage. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=wtLY7_1schk

Looks like a great ride - when do we do it?

Rocket,
It looks like it is happening Sat May 2nd. The specific times are in post #1. Old Leadfoot will keep us posted.

I think I would probably avoid that weekend! The more money than brains quote above is reason enough! Be great to do in a small group on an off day!

Don't worry too much Rocket, we pretty much stick together and with as many cars as there will be there from outside of the club, there's no way to keep everybody together for the entire trip. As far as poor driving, I didn't actually see any last year, just saw video/ pics after that day. It's a lot of fun, trust me.

****UPDATE****

The event organizers have been in touch and have asked me to relay info on to you.

First thing, there will now be two routes: the original 500+ mile all day route and a shorter 200 mile half day route.

Second, for those going the full day, a BBQ lunch is being planned.

Third, because the route goes through a lot of territory where cellphone signal will be minimal at best, they are making two-way radios available. There is a small rental fee.

Fourth, in order to accurately fulfill the needs of point 2 and 3, they are asking all drivers to sign up via an online spreadsheet. It can be found at this link: http://tinyurl.com/supercar666

Fill it out as others have and close the tab, it will save automatically. Please sign up, even if you are a maybe for the moment. You can go back and update it when you can confirm.

There are too many people signed up but it wouldn't let me sign up. Perhaps cause I was using my ipad? Also, can we bring our own 2 way radio or must we rent theirs?

What do you mean there were too many people signed up? i just checked the register and there are only 20 slots full.

And i'm sure they won't mind if you bring your own.

Sorry, typo. I meant to say "There aren't too many people signed up". But it didn't allow me to sign up. I couldn't manipulate the spread sheet at all. I think cause I was on my iPad. I will try it from my PC in a bit.

Get your shit together....and i noticed nobody else had signed up....was going to begin chastising folks here, but figured it might still be too early.

The run is a month away. If you're still on the fence, it's time to pick a side!

Register here: http://tinyurl.com/supercar666, it's all free except for a $10 rental fee for the radio.

So what is the 200 mile run? I don't think you can get to the twisties in 200 miles.

No idea. They won't release the specifics of the routes until that morning at the driver's meeting. Makes it hard to stake out by authorities.

It sounds interesting - be good to know who is actually setting this up, and relation to previous Supercar runs. Rocket, you don't have to worry - the ones out there with s__t-for-brains take all the attention (state, hwy, etc) away from all the rest of us, so you can still have a great time. I've signed up - only 3 Vipers so far.
This is also the weekend for the 2015 Route 66 Fun Run - so there are plenty of options to get out there!

Gab,
The Devils super car run is the same weekend as the Derby Days event, May 2nd. I've already paid for the Derby event so won't be going on the Rt 666 super car run. Any idea on cost of the car wash/detail at the Tombstone hotel?

My understanding is that the people who ran the previous Supercar Runs, the owners of Supercar Specialists, are behind this one. But due to liability issues, they are no longer involving the company name when running the events.

^^^^^this^^^^ officially and legally it has nothing to do with the company. It is a loose collective of people with performance vehicles going on a drive together at their own risk. Whoever the people work for and how some of them know each other is purely coincidental.

I can't speak for Rich but I have to bail. A certain 3-year old would be very upset if Uncle Todd didn't come to his birthday party.

My birthday is on Halloween. You should know that. And Todd isn't my uncle. In fact, he usually calls me "Daddy." ; )
