View Full Version : If you want to talk me out of ordering the TA 2.0, now would be the best time

I've been considering this decision for a while, and a little unsure if there even would be a 2.0 until ordering opened for it a week ago. I'd have liked to see a variety of improvements on the car to make the step forward more of a no-brainer, but I know the car is already track perfection. And while the additional aero is only minor, it will be something. The $15k coupon was a great move, but only works if and when you use it!
I like the subtle look of the aero and carbon bits with Venom Black, and would order it again that way. I also happen to know that black is fastest, so at least that part is a no-brainer :)
So what does the most respected members of Viper Nation think? I expect to make the decision rather quickly. If anyone here is interested in the car, feel free to contact me to purchase it from either myself or the dealer that takes it on trade.

I love that new blue color on the 2.0. Saw a front end pic on FB with rear wing back there and it had an aggressive stance. Get what u want not what others want because that's all that matters. Post pics soon!

I would wait till more information on the ACR comes out based on performance numbers, Price and availability.

Because you already own a TA 1.0 I'd wait for the ACR. Yes you will see a small improvement with a 2.0 on the track, but the ACR will be that much more when it's released. Use the next year to hone your driving in your 1.0 and then jump to the ACR in 2016!

Is it fairly reliable the ACR will debut in 16?

Sema Viper concept in 2012 ended up being the 2014 T/A
Sema Viper concept in 2013 ended up being the 2015 T/A 2.0
Notice a trend?.....
Showing the ACR concept at SEMA, and Kuniskis' comments on Viper, lead me to say... wait for the ACR.

The wing is small and ugly.
Why would anyone want to talk you out of it. If you want it go for it. Black definitely looks great on a Gen V. If you don't want your 15k coupon I'll be happy to take if off you hands! ;)

Since you already own a TA, I wouldn't do it. You could simply purchase the rear wing and the added pieces for the front splitter, and put them on your car. I would wait for the ACR. If the voucher is burning a hole in your pocket, pick up a 2nd Viper - maybe a sweetheart deal on a GTS that is sitting around.

I would wait for the ACR personally.

Buy whichever car suits your needs best. Depending on how/if the ACR turns out, it could possibly end up not being as long trip friendly as your TA. If your just after a track car, then by all means maybe the ACR will be the one for you. I bet you will enjoy the heck out of whatever one you go with. Some of the people posting to "wait"....Have been waiting for the last 2-3 years. You, on the other hand, have more track miles and driver feedback on a TA then anyone else. Carpe Diem
First TA is better looking. Not enough difference performance wise. No go.

Oh yeah, well aware of the trend. Even when the concept appeared before the Gen IV ACR.
Was looking for someone with maybe a little inside scoop to back up the trend.

Based on your experiences enjoying the shit of your TA on tracks I'd say get the TA 2.0. You are one of the handful of people here that would track it and try to get the most out of it. It seems that the TA 2.0 is geared towards owners like you so go for it, track it, enjoy it and report back. ;) That being said it's really easy for me to spend YOUR money.

You can only use the voucher once. I'd wait for the ACR. After hearing Kiniskis talk about Dodges commitment to the Viper I'd say its 99% sure an ACR is coming. Think of how much faster the ACR was than the regular coupe or even the aero coupe. I think you will kick yourself if you buy the 2.0 after seeing the lap time the ACR will produce. If no ACR in a year or two I'd be surprised...

If I was in your shoes, it would only make sense if you had the strong desire to get a different color. Since you stated you want it to be black like your current TA, doesn't really seem like a good value and better use of the $15k coupon would be for a future model that was substantially different in some way. End of the day, your call.

Just wanted to let you know that I have decided to keep my TA. I was considering the TA 2.0 if it made financial sense while I wait for a more improved TA 3.0 or ACR. While it would require little cash to move up a year using the voucher if the 2.0 was really the car I wanted, the full accumulated losses would be seen on the purchase of the TA 3.0 or ACR. The reality is that I'd just be duplicating the steep first year depreciation that all new cars suffer, and I'd have lost the original TA which I prefer if future models don't meet my requirements as well.
There are specific changes that I'm looking for in my "ideal" future Viper. I'm confident they will all be included in the next ACR, but I'm hopeful they will also be available in one without the full aero treatment in case that look is a bit too much over the top for our touring and track needs. Just build me a TA with fully adjustable suspension, 19" front Sidewinders as shown on the ACR concept and a better track tire to fit it, higher capacity steel brakes, and maybe some optional aero enhancements and I'll be happy :)

I would have advised you to upgrade only so I could make an offer on your current TA. :lol2:
