Rotating Tires

I haven't ever rotated tires on past Vipers, but I seem to recall some mention that stock Gen V Viper tires (presuming I have the same with a 2013 Track Package?) were not unidirectional and could be rotated from side to side (i.e., simply taking the tires/wheels off and swapping them to the other side, without taking the tires off the wheels and rebalancing them).

Can anyone confirm this and whether these tires last enough to bother doing this?

I have 9k now on OEM tires, but with Michelin Pilot Sports of various sorts, I seemed to only get 22-25k miles out of fronts and 18-20k miles out of rears, so I am wondering what the Pirelli tires get and whether rotating them is an option, and if so, whether worthwhile.

Not sure why you would rotate that way as you get no benefit. Tire wear would still be on the same parts of the tires. (ie, if inner our outer on one side, would be the same on the other side for street use)

Second part, never really heard of anyone get more than 10-12k on rear sets and fronts can go a bit longer. guess it all depends on how you drive. This all relates to the Michelins. If you have been getting 18k-20k, that is pretty amazing.

Ive rotated my Corsas once at 4k mi. Wear has been great so far but I havent beat on them much.

Theyre asymmetrical so you can swap L/R but I wouldn't leave them in one position long. Once they take a set/pattern id just leave them.

Interesting seeing JonB's statement. He would have more experience of customers. I have went through sets and never seen that wear pattern from street driving as have seen rears and fronts wear evenly, but again he would know better from other experiences.

Did I miss something? The track pack tires are the Corsa Asimmetrico 2; thus can be swapped L/R without issue.

I'll have to check mine too - I could have sworn they were directional. If not, good to know they can be swapped left to right.

I don't know whether ALL asymmetrical tires are multidirectional or if some are unidirectional, and didn't want to assume. Maybe someone who knows can confirm. Regardless, all that matters are the tires we have. I still need to look at mine as well.

Not too many tires that are corner specific anymore you can move back and forth at will. I personally have been through at least 100 sets of tires and have never noticed a cross wear issue unless I'm at the track and it has biased turns or like direction hard trail braking corners.

By cross wear issue, do you mean what JonB's quote mentioned above or are you talking more generally that it isn't worth rotating L/R on a Viper as the wear appears to be even?

If it looks even I would not bother as Jon mentioned most Viper tires will cycle out long before they wear out.

I generally wear out fronts a lot faster than rears, but once JonB brought this up, I do see the front right seem to always seem to wear faster than the left. Maybe I just turn left too much? :) I have the car up on stands in my garage enough with the wheels off, that it just makes sense to rotate those side to side. Certainly can't hurt. That said, I don't know if I would be waiting in line at a shot to get it done either.
