View Full Version : For those who were issued the number 100

Web Driver

...you are not. There is only one #100.

There seems to have been a fluke in the software that while the credit card was being processed, multiple others were as well, and all of them were trying to get #100.

Additionally, it seems that if the button was hit to submit your information two or more times, it also tossed everything into a tizzy...

This has resulted in a few people getting charged, but not actually being inserted into the members database. It has caused others to receive two emails, one with your real number and one with #100.

In our pre-production trials, everything went smoothly, however when 150 of you hit the system all at once, this was discovered.

So, if you have number 100, I need you to email me at web.driver@driveviper.com and we will work through this for you.

Please email me the following information:

First Name
Last Name
City/State
Last 4 digits on your credit card.

I will be comparing credit card results tonight to the actual signups looking for who is missing, or double charged. You will be issued a refund if you have been double charged, so have no fear on this.

We apologize for the confusion

i'm Hoping us guys who got 100 are going to get numbers lower than people that signed up later than us. It would be unfair considering we were among the very first who registered and because of a glitch which we were not responsible for , we get a high number, or as the reply email says, we will get the next available number.
I hope is gets resolved fairly.

Well like I said earlier, it would be fair to give us lower numbers than the ones that signed up after us, as it was a first come first serve basis and, I too took time off to be one of the first and it would feel quite disappointing if they did not see it the fair way....maybe point numbers....100.1, 100.2 etc...

Another #100 here, I sent an email earlier to that address but no response, but just sent another email with the specific info requested (didn't know the specifics earlier, was just forwarded the email address maybe why no response to the earlier message), had hoped by signing up at noon to be in the first 100 (101-200) public numbers, guess I will end up with something in the 400s to 500s by now, no easy solution though I liked the suggestion of 100.1, 100.2 etc., would be a funny way to commemorate this yet still throw a bone to all the #100s!

Just happy to be part of a new club. Of all the years I was with them and still a member along with being a member here too, I dont recall a computer glitch like this one either. Agree its just a number but the point is there was a very big promotion made about signing up early to get a low or lower number plus buys for numbers below 100. Many that desired to get a low number and sat by their computer to register right away did not get the results they wanted.

We are trying to figure out a solution to an unforeseen (and wasn't able to be tested) event. We're likely speaking on it tonight.

We understand the complaints, and appreciate the fact that this MEANS something to everyone. It means something to us too - and while we know that there's no way to make everyone happy (I have tried that and usually it just makes no one happy and me sick to my stomach), we're going to try to come up with some "out of the box" solutions that are the least problematic, but still recognize the passion and commitment you 100's had to make this thing called the VOA pretty remarkable.

Trying....

bitn4ever
11-19-2013, 01:59 PM
Here's what I don't understand.
The information clearly states that anyone wanting #85 - 100 will pay $500.
The error is in the line that states the fee for preferred numbers being from #100 and so on.

so....after reading the first line, I would assume that the second one was a typo and should have read "#101 - 1000"
Therefore, I would never expect to get #100 in the first place unless I pay $500 for it.

Why the fuss and headaches? Is it just about bragging rights? Does it really matter that much? If you meet someone at an event, I don't think they're going to ask "so, what is your membership number?"
Suggestions:
I think we should remove #100 altogether. If we ever have a car raffle, we can make it a second prize.
If nobody gets it, then the argument ends.

The complaint will now be "but why should I get #600 when I was one of the 200 first people to register?"
Possible Solution
Since some members are not hung up on what number they got, then maybe the VOA can offer an incentive to everyone willing to give up their numbers between 101-200.
Example: If anyone wants to give up their number 145, they will receive a $50 VOA voucher to be used towards VOA merchandise or maybe get free membership next year? (something like that)

Just an idea. :car-smiley-003:

Maybe this glitch has been a good thing for all the 100's. The VOA history and it's charter members will know about the 100's forever. IMO it's better than one lone member with the #100. I would like to see all the 100's recognized. They were there in the beginning and should have a special part in the Clubs history.

I like these possible solutions for the people that feel so passionately about these numbers. Some of you are having fun with it and others just can't let it go. Seems like a few worked it out and got double digit numbers, there was a couple references in this thread on who to talk to so look them up. Many less fortunate people would like 5 minutes in your shoes to deal with these type of "problems", please check yourself and move on to something really worth bitchin' about.

what difference does a number really make!?......it just means you got home early to signup!

Without suggesting my personal opinion, your statement was not unanimous. There were many members who made a serious effort to purchase a low number, not to mention those that paid some serious coin for specific membership numbers.

It is for this reason that we made the major effort to ascertain the exact first day membership purchase order and reassign all numbers based on time of purchase. It was the only absolutely fair way to resolve the matter. Now everyone's membership number directly reflects their time of purchase (relative to other members).

I'm not disparaging your opinion in any manner, I just want to state for the record that there were MANY members that were upset that they didn't receive a membership number that correctly reflected their time of purchase.

Thanks to the VOA and Alex, et all for fixing this and making it right. I know it was a lot of work. So one question, I hear many saying they went from 100 to XXX to YYY but who got there in the fewest seconds?

I was thinking Steel Gray with Stripes but maybe it was a photo finish with red.

I am outraged and utterly disgusted at being set back a whole single digit. My life is without merit now and banished to the lowly depths of 108 blackness. Damn you, damn you all to hell!1379

Not to disparage your point but I can't be the only one under the impression that this is a 'Viper club' not an 'Ive got a lower number than you club'? I guess I'm missing the importance of the number system :t0152:

S & S,

Again, let me preface this by noting that I am not suggesting this as my opinion, but the mere fact that this thread has over 100 posts is surely indicative that SOME members value their membership number(s). I am in complete agreement with you that you are far from the only member who has little to no regard for their membership number. But it does appear to be important to several (at least the 50 purchased and another 40+ who's numbers were among the original "100's"). To each their own. The only reason I'm beating this point to death is that we (OK, not so much me) spent a crap load of time making this right. Please allow us to "believe" it was for the good of all mankind. :very_drunk:

What if you win #75 or 76? Will your sad life have meaning again? Is there still hope?

From 433 to 144 !! Redemption ! Thanks for all your hard work and understanding VOA ! I know in the end it may seem to most that it is just a number but, then again a Viper is just a car ....right?

Depending on how you answered that last question is , in my opinion the answer to the first question ( is it just a number?).
