Long story short basically broke my left foot in half this summer and really did not feel with dealing with a clutch anytime soon, so I sold my gen 4 coupe. Would love to get another Viper has anybody heard any rumors of an auto in a V, was hoping maybe they would put the Hellcat trans in the snake.
I know most are opposed to this but I truly believe people would be surprised the amount of new buyers this would attract and help the Viper survive. As of now there are only 2 cars I'm considering (price range) used 911 turbo PDK, new Z06.

No plans for an auto trans in the Viper. It just will not fit in the current configuration. The Hellcat actually has the vipers trans in it.

I remember when I broke my leg in half and threw the crutches on the passenger seat of my Gallardo. E gear with paddle shifters came in handy at the time. Lol. 8 speed automatic Z06 would work. There's a hot 2014 GT3 with PDK listed at lambo newport beach for a buck and a half. Good luck with the decision.

Imagine the aftermarket that would open up with more Vipers being sold. I always would get jealous looking at all the mods available for other platforms, when I sold my IV I had bolted about everything that was available for it at the time

I have been asking if the HC auto will fit, I get the no clue look... as soon as the HC is in the driveway, we plan to put it on a lift to take a look at that 8 sp...
Shipment of #180 is supposed to be tomorrow. So we should have it in another week?

There are a few Vipers with autos out there. One of them utilized a power glide trans and a gear vendor overdrive.

TQ news with the obvious... the real question is will the HC8 fit in a Viper... So far not one news agency has asked the engineers that question from what I have read.
Sorry to hear about your foot, sucks that you had to sell the car because of it. There have been Vipers fitted with aftermarket auto trans in the past. Assuming it can be done, if you really wanted it.

If Tim is smart he'll force them to figure out how to get the auto in the Viper. The "Die Hards" will complain, but who cares.

As much as I am not a fan of Automatics, more vipers would sell for sure, and that would likely open up the aftermarket for these cars and ensure the longevity of the Viper for years to come.
OP have you considered a 2015 stingray autobox? 8 speed auto...

The Hellcat transmission will NOT fit in the Viper it is too big, the frame and tunnel would have to be totally changed.
This is the one we did that was mentioned above.

Not really looking to hack up a perfectly good car to shoehorn an automatic transmission in it, I tend to switch cars every three or four years something like this would be next to impossible to sell for any decent value when the time comes.

Looking at the C7 Z06 with the A8 automatic transmission, just having a hard time coming to grips with the look of all the the bolt spoilers and fenders spats, to each their own but all the aero parts on the Vette look piecemeal together and do not flow with the car. Easy to get spoiled with lines of a Viper, but I suppose the Z06 would start looking better after some appearance and performance mods should be an easy low 10 sec car.

I'd definitely recommend a 991 GT3. I owned one. Great car if you need a dual-clutch or auto.

...The "Die Hards" will complain, but who cares.
The reasonable Die Hards will not complain as long as we don't head down that path of Lambo, Ferrari, Porsche, where the PDK DCT Auto XBox version of a transmission becomes the ONLY option. That would be the reason to care, FWIW - You let one Auto into the lineup, you start the clock on how many model years the manual will still be available at all.
to the OP - would you like to keep the more exotic feel, or would a GT-R be in the running? Certainly can be stupid fast for less $ than the Euro options. You could argue the style with the Vette either way but at least you could daily-drive the GT-R

I like the GTR performance and love the aftermarket but it looks really don't do it for me. DD is not an option whatever I get will be a weekend toy I drive a company vehicle during the week. Coming from a Viper really spoils you in many ways, makes it difficult moving to a different platform in relatively the same price range

There's a power glide Gen II auto for sale on Cars.com, but it's a drag car, so it might be too much of an animal for use on public roads even though it still has its interior.

I know that car, it belonged to Hugh Hoard... there isn't an interior, and Hugh always said it was built up too much to make it into a street car again.
He crashed it at 202 mph at the SSCC I think, it was built so well there was very very little damage despite the crash at a high rate of speed.
We had heard that car went to the middle east, glad it's still in the States! Thanks for mentioning it TitleMine. I've already sent several emails with it's whereabouts... :smileys-car-driving

John Donoto makes the adapters for the viper-to-auto, I believe, no matter who does the conversion, they use john's adapters. I would almost guarantee that John could put an auto in your viper.
