I need to touch up where my tire installer scratched along a rim edge. What is the color of black that I should use as touch up? Thanks

Aren't they powder coated?
Just curious, why not make the installer fix them? There's no excuse for wheel damage when installing tires.

Totally agree! If the installer damaged the rim, they should be responsible. Bet they are powdercoated, depending on the scratch, it may be possible to touch up the damage though.

I had some very small scratches on my ACR wheel when I bought the car around the lug area. I called a local wheel repair place that I have used numerous times on different cars. They come right to the house via mobil service and blend a gloss black paint. Then its sprayed on with a tiny sprayer they have. Heat dried and came out perfect. Around the rim though may require a bit more work but the color can be blended to match.

Anyone know if they are powder coated or painted? To me they almost look like they are painted and not powder coated.

Derek,
There are quite a few mobile companies in SoCal that will come to you and fix the rim. I know of one in Thousand oaks I used for a BMW and a Mini and they matched the paint perfectly and it was about $100 per wheel. They actually fixed curb rash, so it might be cheaper if it's just paint. PM me if you need more info.

A tid bit of good info here too. If you are tracking with these wheels and doing hard braking, make sure and blow or wipe off the wheel brake dust on the outer lip side right after your session. The high temps on the wheel will cause the brake dust to etch into the paint.
