2011 LOL

The Viper ACR may have a mild power boost, but will be mainly a suspension and/or airflow upgrade, to increase track performance and presumably re-set a record at “the Ring.” Adjustable suspension components for compensation for local tracks is likely, along with higher downforce (to add traction). The old 2011 Dodge Viper ACR also had some of the stickiest tires available, Michelin Pro Sport Cup 2s, and “no compromises” tires are likely for the 2016 as well.

One source said that the old Viper ACR had much more downforce in the rear than the current model, which is why this might be a target.

The release of a Viper ACR at the upcoming aftermarket show (SEMA) appears to be certain, with Dodge releasing the teaser image below. See more of Suzq044’s work.

The next ACR should exceed the performance of the ACR-X. After all, the Gen V has the same amount of power but weighs less. Just needs an improvement in gearing and areo.

There is something really goofy going on with the passenger side hood, it lacks the three vents the passenger side has on the outline

Underwhelmed by the rendering. That's basically a TA 2.0 with a stripe. If they come out with the ACR, I hope that it blows the Gen 4 version out of the water in styling and performance. That means, it needs more HP as well as a completely redesigned front fascia to give the car a much more aggressive look and lose the catfish mouth. Then add a real ACR downforce package instead of that sissy looking rear wing. Make this car the next iteration of NASTY from Chrysler.

Only reason you dont see the vents on the pass side is theres no design going over them. Theyre there...just not visible. The thing that is cstchin my eye is just behind the NACA intake duct. The hood looks like it dips down just after the duct. However...coukd just be an illusion created by the pic.

How would you improve the gearing?

Whoops. After re-reading my post I meant to say "Just needs an improvement in areo. Hopefully active aero." I am not sure why I wrote gearing...:drive:

Reminds me of a Gen 1 I saw in Japan some years back.

getting closer, but there's a big gap from the edge of the hood to the roof.

I'd take the black centerband out much wider beyond the stripe and then ya got something sweeet thar.

If it's legitimate I'm really hoping they put a mild fender widening in the rear. 1.5" each side. Leave the front as is.

Wow. Allpar is really slipping with the info there. Sooooo much wrong info.

And the rendering shows a much smaller wing than Trostle's photo.

Either way, looking forward to seeing what SRT/Dodge has up their sleeve. :)

That article mentioned the 2011 ACR.

." The old 2011 Dodge Viper ACR also had some of the stickiest tires available, Michelin Pro Sport Cup 2s, and “no compromises” tires are likely for the 2016 as well"

I thought those 2011s were so rare that the few people who had them didn't track them. I have never seen a 2007 at the track either, so it's really tough to make the comparisons. I think they are all garage queens. They must have come with the V-12 option that Non-Viper owners tell me about yet I have never seen in person or in print. Not lucky enough I guess.

Bottom line, I say to take anything this site says with a real good size grain of salt, given their proof reading abilities. I don't want to speculate on what they are wildly speculating upon. I want to see a sweet ACR beast as bad as anyone else, I just don't think that story is the the place to get the information.

Cmon guys, you all know the 2011 was no where near as fast as the 2012 ACR!!!

PS - Bryan , the wing on the driver's mirror is brilliant , but I hope it is just the dark background as it would just not be complete without one on the passenger side -- mirror imbalance at 160 mph is a major cause of blurred vision.

how many 2012 acrs did you sell bill???

Bill Pemberton
10-23-2014, 09:15 AM
4000 , in my mind ................................they are so fast that you can't even see them fly by on the track!!

Only model ever with chrome muffler bearings and holes in the rear wing so you could insert hangers and dry your clothes at 125 mph while on the Interstate.

It is not commonly known but the 2011 and 12 ACR's were 800 HP, lowered. The front fascias were painted. They cost $75,000 and came with a free track day. They had no recalls of any kind. They also had a Supercharged version putting out 1000 HP and more was available with the optional Tuner. Rumor has it some people still found something to complain about.

My 2011 ACR hasn't run since the day I brought it home! And I paid an extra $45.00 for the paddle shift

Bill Pemberton
10-23-2014, 10:25 AM
1BigRedC --- you live on a lake, so sorry but Dodge sent you paddles instead of a paddle shift. That was the Boater's Option , only available on the 2011s - remember?!

AAHHHH, so that's what the holes in the windows are for?! Although I still think it was a bit odd that they made the paddles still mount from the steering column! Or, were they just prepping for the new ACR?!

Screw that. I'll take the classic styling of my 07 any day. Plus, mine had the oft mentioned but never seen V-12 option. I heard the 2011 ACR had improved aero though. Such that it could drive upside down at 34 MPH. I have never seen it done though. Perhaps ALLPAR has.
