I just saw this article about the Hellcat Charger. It just keeps getting better. The article will explain what I am talking about.

https://autos.yahoo.com/news/charger-hellcat-hits-60-under-3-seconds-might-183052913.html

And supposedly has never been tested at full throttle.

PS: I apologize if this has been previously posted.

I just learned it's not actually a HEMI, which I found interesting:

Has not been a true hemispherical engine for many many moons. But the branding is strong. :)

I saw one in red at the OC Auto Show yesterday. Looks pretty good in person!

Pretty damn close. See this article: http://www.moparts.org/Tech/Archive/bb/58.html Definitely not a wedge or a "porcupine" head. But Car and Drive probably has never had one apart to see what they really look like. A double plug 426 Hemi looked similar but without the "quench" chambers, which, as you can see, are pretty small. And getting 707 HP out of a streetable old style 426 would be tough.

I wonder if I can use that $15,000 voucher on a Hellcat? That car is bad ass! I assume the Challenger will be even faster.

Challenger is NOT faster. Charger has much better aero.

I read a few places that the curb weight of the charger is 150-200# lighter than the challenger. Not sure how that's possible with a physically larger, 4 door car, but that would explain the differences in performance. If only they'd make a 2 door charger that was 10-12" shorter overall and look the part of a muscle car instead of a stretched limo grocery getter, I'd be game for one....esentially the Mopar equivalent of the late model GTO.
