I'm hoping Dodge will bring it out there . Right now GM is out there testing the new Z06..

Based on the convo's that we had with the SRT people at COTA, I don't see Dodge going back to the 'Ring until they have an ACR model. Plus, they did mention that it would be pointless to go, unless they could take the record back. TA2.0 still won't have the KW's or big aero, might even do worse than the ACR, on that track.
As for the C7Z, I doubt we'd even be told the results unless it did something substantial. GM goes there often for testing, but doesn't always publish results. They had the 2016 Camaro there too, yesterday.
Sucks to see the car crashed. It apparently was wet that day. Hope the driver is ok.
SRT has said no multiple times, so I'm thinking, no.
Until there's an "ACR" they've at least publicly said they wont take a car there.
It'd be cool if someone did, vendor, or something, to campaign a car there and go for it, but not like that's chump change to do.

Did Dodge ever officially take the Gen4 ACR to the ring? I thought both the 2008 and 2010 ACR runs were VCA-funded, not official Dodge efforts.

Won't happen cause it wouldn't beat the ACR.
Dodge took the ACR in 08.
Viper Exchange took the car in 2010.

This^^^ The ACR was uniquely setup to conquer that track. It's pretty clear you need to have big functional aero, a great tire, and some sort of adjustable suspension setup to get everything out of a Viper at the Ring.
In the Gen V platform we have a car (Current TA) that performs as good or better than the ACR on tighter slower speed tracks where aero isn't much of a factor. The TA 2.0's aero reminds of the old aero coupes, better but still not enough to go and run something crazy at the Ring.
I expect to see Dodge/Viper Exchange to go back to the Ring once an ACR is built with real aero, and on a Trefeo R.

One of the keys I've noticed for a potential Ring lap record is the lack of electronic or magnetic type shocks on the fastest cars. Most seem to run old school KW's, Ohlins, etc that are manually adjustable.
ACR, Nismo Track Package, etc all have the old fashion shockers as far as I can tell. It will be interesting to see what the C7 ZO6 can do if it stays with the electronic type shocks.

WHAT A CROCK! Chrysler 'wrapped' the 2010 record run into a JEEP marketing budget and commercials being filmed for Europe. And Tomball Dodge/Viper Exchange generously provided the 2 ACRs. It was a well-kept secret that would likely not have seen the light of day had the record not fallen.
The VCA only funded the travel and expenses of the infamous husband-wife couple, and their magazine article that SRT did not have to pay VCA extra for....or did they ?!? One of the best anecdotes is that the promo-Jeep got barfed in by the car-sick author!
Agree that 'testing' there is common for GM and SOBs, but uncommon for Chrysler. I'd love to do another decal commemorating any new N'ring record...we still have a few remaining from '08 and '10 records for owners wanting to display them.

It would not make sense to run anything but a G5 ACR there. As formidable as the TA is the ACR's bits puts it on a different level on a track like the Ring. Even at VIR the TA was more than a sec behind the old "08 ACR" if memory serves and that was just a 3.9-4 mile lap. Imagine what that would equate to extrapolated over 13+ miles. As good as the TA is I just dont see it beating the old ACR's number much less even approaching the Nismo N-package time at the Ring.
As another point of comparison the TA is on par with the outgoing ZR1 as we have seen. The ZR1 with the upgraded MPSC's was almost 6 seconds off the 2010 ACR's pace at the Ring.

If someone wants to send me over their T/A, I don't mind driving it over to Germany and giving a go around the track for you :D I'll even give it a wash for you :D

Want to read something sad? The Corvette guys are more scathing about the 'Ring crash, than we are. Pretty pathetic comments over here:

It's pretty classless of them to be attacking the drivers weight like that.
I CAN NOT wait until the Z06/7 are released and we can see some actual real world numbers so speculation can finally end. If it's faster than the Viper fine, it gives us a new benchmark to beat. If it's slower that fine too. But right now all the speculation about it being God's gift to the automotive world is getting really annoying.

I agree with this! But if it is faster I hope dodge steps it up and wrecks it!

I can guarantee you anything under around 3.4 seconds 0-60 in the Z06/Z07 ain't going to happen. As a former owner of the 2014 C7 z51, their 0-60 numbers are WAY over inflated. It was Chevy's exagerated numbers that helped me decide to sell my Stingray and buy the Viper. I cancelled my order for the Z07 and could not have been happier (well, except for the recent price cut fiasco).

I don't think we will see it. In addition to a lack of funding and less available down force from the 2.0's wing, what about the gearing? There is a new taller 6th gear for 2015 which may make it unusable at the ring and I think the Gen V 5th gear may not be tall enough given the Gen V's rear end gear ratio. Anyone know what the top speed (@ ~redline) of 5th gear is on a Gen V?
