I stopped to look at a loaded '13 GTS, $143k original MSRP. They had it online for $114k.
Asked them what their best price was. $120k. But that was before the spiel how it was a $143k car (before the $15k reduction)
Then it was $110. Then $100.
But he would only do $100, because he had a guy in Richmond negotiating for $99. (All this was in a span of 30 seconds of talking)
So, you are offering someone a better deal than me?
Still wasn't enough, IMO for a car that wasn't really what I wanted and they've had on the lot for almost 18 months (And sitting outside at this point)

Wait a minute, I know this car, this is the one I wanted to buy before I found my red one. The dude is a straight up ass-hole. Lol... He was like so let me get this straight you're 25 and can't afford the advertised price and I should discount it why? Lol Affording it wasn't the question, I'm persian and I'm jewish, and I'm simply asking you to sell it for what its worth.

Yes
It's our area, dealerships here suck donkey butt, and in terms of Vipers, pfft.
I'm surprised we didn't run into each other, I was at a dealership this weekend, offering against a car originally at about $140k, now MSRP'd at $125ish, they advertised it as $113k or best offer. It wasn't exactly what I'd order, but it was here and now and nice, and I'm tired of waiting on getting a gen5 and reading about everyone enjoying their cars except me. I made an offer that dropped the $113k by $4k, which I expected they'd come back in the middle, etc.
He gave me an out the door response & I was scratching my head on the math, then he disclosed the car price was $115k that he used. Huh? I said it was listed at $113, and you went up, he stumbled & acted surprised, then said well that doesn't include destination. Huh? Are there any other items from the window sticker you subtract from your prices when you advertise them? And it was an OBO ad, sooooo, then he said oh you saw it in an ad??, eh...
I just said never mind, politely ended the conversation and left. I don't do business that way, I mean does $4K matter in the price of the car to me to buy it, not from a cash standpoint, but just wow on the principle of it. That car can sit there for another 6 months, maybe I'll call in January when there's 3 ft of snow outside & offer $80k.
We desperately need better dealers here. If one of the reputable guys opened a shop here, they'd make a killing just by their reputation alone. Unfortunately none have something close to what I'd like right now, they've moved their inventory. I chatted with roanoke even and their inventory is a lot thinner than the web suggests, a lot of sales going on now.
Feeling like I may have missed it and now back in a waiting game for a '15 or next summer. I don't want to order because of the ordering fiasco last time. Not sure what I'm doing, lol, but it's not buying from that dealer, geesh.

lmao, which dealer dave? PM it to me. (I assume Oursman, we were going to stop in to look at the Stryker Green coming back from Baltimore)
It would have to be something I loved to pay anything over $100k but even then I'd struggle to want to do it. Considering what they are going in for with <1000 miles on manheim even a $142k new car marked down to $114 is still grossly overpriced.
But I agree, I'll look hard at some '13 and maybe '14 once the '15 are out before I order and see what there is. Come Jan it will be our market for sure in the DC area.
In reality it would have to be a hell of a deal for me to buy anything now. We are a month and a half away from snow...
Roger that, on all counts, lol.
There is a local dealer near Raleigh NC that has a Stryker Green in the showroom. The sales manager (VOA member too) there is a straight-shooter, no BS guy. I'll send his contact info if you are interested.

I'd feel bad talking to a respectable dealer with what I'd be willing to pay for something sitting on a lot!

Look in the VOA's Gen V classified section, he has it listed there...check the price first and then call. He's a straight shooter even if he is from our region.

Let me fully understand, you go to a dealer looking at a car you are not really interested in and then are publicly complaining about the price and GM competence?
I am with you on how bad these guys are, but your story does make me wonder how many tire kickers they have to deal with on a regular basis.
At the end of the day, you were ultimately wasting his time (and yours) if not interested in the car anyways.
If you know what you want and the price range you want to pay, just look at cars.com or autotrader.com, search for them, then send email or call those dealers and make your cash offer and be done with it. It actually was as easy as that for me in my personal experience.

I am pretty sure it was more of a "If they accept my lowball offer, then I will jump on it. I have nothing to lose by making an offer." Remember, some of these dealers wouldn't hesitate to lowball you on a trade.

If the number was good enough I may have jumped. My interest is in ordering, but hey you never know.
It is a buyers market. $100k is still overpriced for a '13, in my opinion.
I was one of the first to buy a Gen V Viper sight unseen, never having driven one, paid full MSRP, so I don't need any lectures on wasting dealers time - especially when these are the same dealers that had markups in 2013 while I sat and waited for mine to be built.

lmao, the dealers first offer on his "best deal" was $6000 more than what they had listed on their website.
Yeah, poor honest car dealer and his precious time.
I know I was ready to buy on the spot, cash in hand. I believe that's why they increased the price on me. I told them here's a reasonable offer, let me know your counter offer and I'll write you a check right now and drive it home. That got me an increase in the advertised price. LoL

vipersmith, was not trying to lecture. Just pointing out never been a car salesman, let alone at a low class Dodge dealer so can only imagine the folks they get strolling through on a daily basis. all deserved and get your points completely.
since you already had a GenV, I was a bit surprised that a "great deal" would even sway you if not the car you wanted. I figured any prior owner would be the pickiest when getting the next one knowing the exact color, options and model they would want. I have yet to meet the person that says "but I got a great deal" that is truly happy they settled on getting a great deal vs the car they really wanted.
