I know it varies from state to state, driver to driver, and car to car, but I'm curious what the average premiums people are paying for their Gen V's (even more specific, GTS's). I'm getting quotes all over the place and significantly higher than I'm paying for my Gen IV. My quotes are for $500 deductible and $250K/$500K coverage.

I currently have 3 cars (07 SRT8, 03 Viper, and 13 Dart) bundled with my homeowners with Westfield. When I switched from Travelers to Westfield, my car insurance went down. It is WELL worth it to have an insurance agent to get you the best rate (no, I'm not an agent), rather than calling around and getting quotes yourself. I can tell you right now, my Viper (5000 miles/year) costs less to insure than the Dart! I know you asked about a Gen 5, but just giving you my experience.
It also depends ALOT on three things:
1. Address where the car is insured (if I were to move 3 miles away over a county line, my insurance would be MUCH more)
2. Driving record
3. Credit score

Well, California is a bit more expensive than most areas. We bundle our policies with 3 cars, home and umbrella. When I went from a Gen IV to V, rates went up a bit, but not by a large amount. However, cost is about $100 mo. with <7,500 mi. per year and $1,000 deductible. Any accidents or tickets would make a big difference.

Do keep in mind the Gen V cost more to fix/replace then previous generations. The clamshell hood is one significant feature of cost.

In checking if I could afford a new Viper, for a top of the line 2014 GTS, full insurance through State Farm Insurance in Colorado was right at $92/mo all in for $500 deductible, no mileage limits, no glass coverage and no rental car reimbursement. Thought that was awesome considering my 96' RT/10 costs me $55/mo for same coverage and no restrictions. All numbers are bundled with a million other things insured and considered a fourth vehicle.

Is Erie any good? I've always been with the big guys (State Farm, Allstate, etc). Will Erie be there when there is a problem? Do you have a relationship with an agent like people do with State Farm/Allstate/etc?

I was with State Farm from the time I was 16 until my early 40's, great company. I also had the same agent all that time. When my agent left State Farm and went to Erie a few years ago, I went with him. Very happy with them so far. Did my homework before switching and found Erie to be a very good company. Lots of info on the web about them. Even consumer Reports ranked them pretty high in one of their reports last year. In the end I think it really comes down to the relationship you have with your agent as to whether you are going to be satisfied when you have a claim. To keep Erie honest, each year when its time to renew our policies I have State Farm and a couple others provide me with quotes. So far Erie has been very competitively priced.
