You guys see this? Tim K is making some much needed sales changes. Hellcats will be discouraged from being sold over MSRP.

First time I have seen pressure from the manufacturer to hold to MSRP. I hope it works too.

I hope it works. While reading the comments after the article, one of the posters had a good point. Instead of rewarding by the "speed of the sale", perhaps Dodge could reward dealers selling at MSRP with the 2nd allotment. Just because a dealer can sell the car quickly whats to say they didn't sell it with a 10-20k markup?.

I'm liking what Tim is doing a lot. I had the most respect for what Ralph stood for and his personality but I think Tim will be much better on the business side of things.

I bet there are regulations on the books where the manufacturer cannot interfere with the selling price of the vehicle, at all. Franchisees of auto makers (dealerships) are really politically powerful on a state level. Just look at the grief they are giving Tesla just because the dealers are worried that Tesla will set an example of direct auto sales that the other makers will use to try to bust up their local oligopoly.

Although the speed of sale of the first allotment may have ADMs and not affect the speed of sale (because they will be sold out so all dealers will be zero days on Hellcats), once the initial oversubscription is filled the lowest priced dealers should have a supply advantage in theory. That feedback loop might be too late to matter and still spoil the coming out party of the Hellcat.

I think the only way to get reduce ADM predation is to have a post sale survey with the customer. Factoring in everything, including final price, service and timeliness of delivery, a better priced (non-ADM) transaction should net higher satisfaction scores, and allow a better allocation to the dealers who don't charge ADMs.

This, in a nutshell.
