View Full Version : One-off Stryker Red/Black Stripe Viper GTS???

Someone posted these pics of their neighbor's GTS on SRT's facebook and it has some special options on it. Stryker red with stripes wasn't an available option and these stripes are apparently not aftermarket. I haven't seen any other vipers with this color combo since the early pre-production mule that was seen shortly after the car's introduction. Also note the two tone sepia/black laguna interior. The poster said the owner works for SRT. Anyone have anymore information on this car?

I do remember that a Stryker Red with black stripes was made in production. I suspect that it was made by SRT for a special customer (ie- high volume dealer). There are a few examples of this happening over the years. Wayne and D'Ann have some unique Vipers, for example.

The interior has black leather doors, with sepia seats. Could this be a 2015 model ? Hmmm... Look at the plastic door trim, it's from a non-Laguna car, while the dash is ...

Looks like the old test car to me.

As I understand it, old test cars are not put into the general public or optioned to company employees as a perq. They are, as a rule, destroyed. This was told to me by a retired Ford engineer who retired within the last ten years so his info is pretty recent. And I doubt that changed because they wouldn't want a lot of those cars hitting the streets from a brand perspective as they could have any number of things not right with them. Though, perhaps an SRT employee could order a build that we couldn't because there was no box to check on the dealer form. That is to say, they weren't offered as options to us for any number of reasons (price, no anticipated demand, planned for next year...etc), but incompatibility of parts or impossibility of build wasn't one of them. Maybe the same concept as a high volume dealer putting out their special editions.
I am diggin on the two tone interior though. Had you told me about it, I would have said 'I don't think so' but seeing it makes me like it. Luxurious with an aggressive undertone. If that isn't an option I think it should be.

I just noticed there is an iPod plugged in. No iPod dock inside the glove box or center console on the Gen V? Really? It's so simple and makes for a clean interior. I bet there are a lot of Gen V buyers who don't use their phone for music.

Mules, bucks and whatever else they call them, absolutely they do not let those engineering test beds out beyond the crusher. I think this car is an early production car that was part of the employee benefit program where they could check it out for days or weekends. That program was canceled after the SRT engineer died in a new G5 (the guard wire incident a few years ago) perhaps SRT sold those perk vehicles and this Engineer bought it. Just guessing though!

Man the two tone is nice. Wish we had that as an option.

Yeah, that's an early mule car. Had some weird wheels on it the first time it popped up.

Yes, there is a USB ipod dock on the center console. The Uconnect radio also does an excellent job at controlling the ipod/iphone.

There's a USB port in the cup holder area of the center console to plug your phone into. In the pic his phone stands out because a) he's using a white cord vs getting a nice black coiled cord and b) his phone is propped up for some reason instead of laying flat. My phone being black blends in when it's sitting flat in the cup holder area.
Edit: beaten by Tony, typing on this iPad slows me down!

Stryker Red is GORGEOUS in the sun!! I dig the stripes but it is the classiest color without them too!!
