View Full Version : Dodge CEO speaks on the topic of the Hellcat & the Viper, eh, no.

For review, seems pretty loathed to think of adding 200lbs to the viper, etc. But no Hellcat Viper as far as the big cheese is saying.
No talk of a Mopar FI kit if course though.

Sounds like old news. We've known for a while that the Hellcat V8 that goes into the Challenger and Charger have a host of issues with directly transplanting them to the Viper.
This does not, however, mean that there will be no supercharged Viper in the works. It just means that the exact V8 from the hellcats won't be in there. :)

Once HP Tuners gets the software out for the Gen V's someone will fab up a centrifugal that will work on both Gen IV and V's. I am no longer concerned with Dodges aftermarket support.

Or lack thereof

" There are other options to topping 700-horsepower besides dropping in a Hellcat engine."
The above quote from the story should make people realize there are other options on the table ! ;)

drop in a supercharger and a small hit of nitros, that will do ya for awhile:p0257:

Yep, figured posting it from the highest source may help those that continue to talk about it, to get it. And the mention that in their opinion if it doesn't have a V10 then its not a Viper. I think this is definitive. At the same, its not a statement about possible Mopar kits, etc.
I see they are arguing the power to weight point, which is a good one, but with the quarter mile and top speeds they're quoting of these lead sled Hellcat cars, it'd be nice to see the Viper breaking some of these same laws of physics.
