We're in the very early stages of beta.
Typically, we do these kind of tests in house or with known shops before announcing or releasing anything. However, because there are so Gen 5 vipers out there, I figured I'd just post here.
Here's what we need.
1 person that owns a Gen 5 viper.
- Does not need dyno access.
- Needs to already own and be VERY familiar with HP Tuners.
- Needs to have a spare Gen 5 PCM that they have already tested in their vehicle.
- Needs to have access to a dealer or dealer tools to perform throttle relearn and perhaps other special functions.
- Needs to have direct and continued access to the car so we're not waiting for test results.
What do you get?
- A free license to tune your car, worth ~$1000.
If you meet all these qualifications and would like to possibly have the first tuned Gen 5 viper (outside of Arrow/Dodge), please e-mail us at support.

Hi Keith, I sent you the ECU's and would absolutely love to help you with this, but I'm not familiar with using your software. Let me check with Nineball he may have more experience with your products than I do.

I know HPT software, it is pretty simple once you've used it. My car doesn't have any modifications, so any gains might be minimal. Andy, we could always coordinate this through KP Racing, Joe is the HPT wizzard. Bernie and Morgan at Tomball Dodge are also nearby, could assist with the dealer stuff. Cody and his car would be perfect for this, his car has headers and such. Might even encourage him to keep the car.

Let's do it Tony! Keith that's three Gen V's with performance minded guys in close proximity. I'm sure we'll all do everything we can to help get it to market.

BTW Tony, Torrie picked 30rwhp and 35ftlbs on his stock gen 4 using Keith's software. Which ever two of us don't BETA with Keith will still purchase a credit to do ours anyways.
BTW Tomball can get you a spare gen V ECU. Sending you a PM.

Keith,
We at KP Racing would love to do the testing on this for you. We have 5 Gen 5 vipers that we have the ability to use for tuning. I sent you a email letting you know what we have car wise. Give me a call as i would love to speak with you about the Gen 5 vipers!
Thanks,

Keith
if I can help, I currently use HPT and have a modified G5. In addition, my car has a wideband and it is permanently installed.
If you are interested I have some dragstrip logs with multiple pids.

Just be sure to contact support @ HPT if you guys think you are a candidate.
We just need one.
All we want to test is basic changes to make sure the car reacts to them, and continues to operate as expected. I believe this will be a pretty simple process without any hiccups given how close the Gen5 controller is to the Gen4's... so we'll just want to test raising the idle, changing the spark, just basic things.
Once that test passes and the car continues to operate, well open beta access up for everyone. At that point, we'll have a basic parameter set similar to that of our Gen4 offering. If any customers find any limitations we may then dive further into the code looking for parameters to solve those issues.
These are things I did on my own personal car for the Gen4 product.

I should cut and paste that, and send it to every Dodge executive. Or atleast I hope they see and understand the importance of these developments.

I'll say it now; the IAT issue and pulled timing will be fixed and then NineBall shows this car can run 10's consistantly. I'm calling a 10.79. Now don't let me down Tony!

It's a very easy fix too...adjust a couple tables and you are good to go.

I've installed a catback and clutch since then, so no more "stock" runs. I think the car will go 10.50s in cool air, with headers and a tune. My highest trap stock was 129, most averaged high 128s. That is definitely good enough for 10.70s with a decent launch. Others who drag race the Gen 5 will find that the factory clutch and crappy 1st gear ratio will be the hardest part to overcome. The factory tires have more grip than the clutch does, when you have to modulate/slip the clutch off the line to get a good launch.

Solving these two issues will help a lot. Good work and thanks. Allan

Ok, we'll be putting up a new beta here shortly that will support the Gen5 viper.
The process is the same as the Gen4, HOWEVER, unfortunately even with our custom OS in the Gen5, you won't be able to read it after you write to it.
Anyway, e-mail support if you're interested.

Keith can you explain the difference between the Gen IV and the V, at least the reason that we won't be able to read it? And frankly does that even matter?
As soon as you get this over to KP Racing I'll be heading over with a few others.

The code was changed around.
It doesn't matter.
We COULD have coded read in there, but again, we'll never make money on this product so we just wanted to get it done so the enthusiasts could tune their cars.
I'm an enthusiast myself, so I'm happy to see a market that has nothing, now have at least something.

Tony,
Do you think KP will develop a general tune that can be used by most, but can be fine tuned based on the individual car?

Tony,
Do you think KP will develop a general tune that can be used by most, but can be fine tuned based on the individual car?
Likely, but those canned generic tunes are always going to be on the extreme conservative side. Nothing beats doing in-house dyno tuning with a wideband O2 monitoring things. I certainly wouldn't want a mail-order tune to be on the aggressive side, as every single car varies a little.
