Not strictly Viper related, but everyone knows that the 458 is a performance rival of the Gen V so I thought it was interesting. If this ship is headed anywhere but down, I think we need some FI love from the factory. The Gen V could smoke this thing with ease if it just had a supercharger. Here's hoping.

Meanwhile, on a positive note, have any shoppers been watching the price of Vipers lately? With fall coming, the Gen V's are going to insane lows. I've seen a brand new base a couple of times listed for 88K and lightly used ones (<3,000 miles) for 80K. I hope the market takes notice, that's INSANE value. Somebody buy my GTS quick!

Link doesn't work for me. I would post this in the other rides section. Low Gen V prices will only hurt other Gen resale values, but for the money the Gen V is a beast.

Really....positive ?? The fact that they have to drop the price to a ridiculous level to sell ? Consider what this will do for Viper values period. Not only the Gen V will be affected but any generation will take a hit because of these fire sales. Does not do anything 'positive' for our Vipers.

Sure, if you are in the market for one, but otherwise......its really sad that it has come to this.

I will give you 20K for your GTS...cash..today !

The 40 or so people buying a new discounted Gen V this month are the ONLY ones who will see a positive out of this fire sale. Nothing like kicking everyone square in the mouth who bought a Gen V earlier in the production run. Unfortunately for Viper enthusiasts, Gen V demand is reflected in the current pricing. It hurts the entire "brand" and there needs to be a major move made to create interest and then demand will increase.

Legitimate article or a bunch of baloney?

I'm going with the latter of the two simply because this sounds like a hot topic and yet NONE of the major auto sites are also reporting about it. Ferrari is going the turbo route but I don't think they would be so bold to make their entry level car almost level with the F12.

I'd rather be the branch manager, my car wouldn't be guaranteed to burn to the ground within 5k miles.
