View Full Version : VOI in the future?

What is the possibility of the VOA and members in the future of having a VOI or will that still be an event just with the VCA? Thanks

ViperGTS

Chances?

I attended several events of the IL Viperclub in the past - like Niagara or Mackinac. They have the people and experience.
>> 100 cars in attendance.

Therefore, I expect that the VOA is organizing something like 'VOI', may be under a new - different name - in the near future.

The old club will be (is) very short on funds - may be too short to manage a big event...IMHO.

A smaller version of VOI in Detroit would be great with so many things locally to see and do , and also showing our support for Team Viper and Chrysler ! :o

+1 for Detroit. It would be great to have a "Reboot" of a Viper organization visit the factory, etc.

Detroit might be close to CAAP, but the rest?

Have been to all 6 VOIs since Nashville 2002 and the best were Nashville 2002, Las Vegas 2006, Dallas 2004, ...............................Detroit.

The drive to and from is part of the FUN. The longer, the better!

Anywhere we can connect with SRT works for me! As a new club, I think it's important we have their support.:)

As a few mentioned, we had a trip a few yrs. ago that was great!.....Detroit-to-Niagara Falls was an awsome trip (IL club)... went to Ralphs's house, visited a few 'secret' places he set up for us, then went to Niagara Falls the next day. Cost to register was minimal (<$100)+you were on your own for hotel (group rate), food, etc. Alex (IL Pres.) set it all up, he did a fantastic job!

Detroit seems to be the logical place to tie the knot with Chrysler/SRT again. Chelsea Proving Ground, CAAP, Viper Cafe.....

Discussions are already in the works for doing a "Return to Detroit" event. It's just as much an homage to the car, as it is to a renewed relationship with SRT that welcomes us back in. The plan is to have it this year...

As for VOI, it's completely the groups intent to have VOI type of events. You can bet on it. We've already been yapping about it. As soon as we finish with the last big pieces that are being put in place and going live, that type of stuff will be fun to talk about. We have many people with assembling large events and I myself enjoy putting on large groups gathering. Can't wait to work on things like that.

We'll likely have a committee for planning for VOI (I've always pushed for that, but never got it). We'll also solicit input from folks on locations (needs to have good track, good roads, generally an interesting area, and host hotel that can accommodate the size of the group).

All fun topics.

The VCA only has 3-4 chapters left. I'm sure all 50 owners can get together for a pizza party in Kansas. Maybe get a tour (for a fee of course) of the VPA warehouse so they can see all the parts SRT donated to help the VCA support itself.

Damn that's cold! But mostly true and funny.

Just so everyone can get their feet on the ground, all of this IS planned, but we'll just need a few more days to actually open club registration. What's it been, 7 weeks? LOL

This is like "paint the Mona Lisa again ... I need it delivered in 2 months". ;)

Vegas absolutely gets my vote for a future VOI! Since Detroit is rumored for 2014, how about Vegas in 2016? Sin City + Spring Mountain Raceway is just outside town, and they've just opened up another track on site. Easier to book an event there now. First class facility with a clubhouse and condos on site. I track my Viper there from time to time.

Detroit = East, Las Vegas = West. Everyone's happy.

I like all three as well. I'll throw Charlotte in the mix too for some future VOI, I wish I hadn't missed that one. NASCAR Hall of Fame, Charlotte Motor Speedway, and the home of many NASCAR teams.

Las Vegas is still my #1 vote for selfish reasons- I could drive there, and a great road course that has very safe run offs for Vipers :car-smiley-003:

I'd vote for Vegas. I missed VOI 9 being a newbie, so I'd like to make up for that mistake.

As for the VCA, remember, the warehouse is a super secret location, they'll just show pictures and Chris will wear a mask or costumes for dramatic effect.

Not to be a downer but the club simply can't afford to rent the track out at $35k/day. I've also heard the staff at the track is not the most friendly or accommodating.

Harris Hill is also in the area, and where we run during the zone events. TWS is a bit of a haul from Austin.

Lots of us spend $350 to $500 for track days so individuals could help the club out if we really wanted a track to use. But we don't need a track to have a VOI and there are other things to do in Austin. But there are other cities with tracks if that is a requirement. We could have a VOI around the NARRA Viper Cup or the ALMS series - or whatever it will be called next year. And regardless of whether we have a track or not, we don't need to have a VOI that costs $1500+ per couple before you have even paid for a room. Just sayin'.

We are working on a little something already. ;) Between the west coast, midwest, and east coast, we have been working 24/7 for about 7 weeks on getting the new VOA up and running. :)

Once we get past Nov 18th and catch our breath we can get some real work done on a "VOI" type of event.

Keep the ideas and suggestions coming!

Here is a thought............

Make 2 VOI's. One in the north end of the continent during the summer months, and one in the southern states (ones with good weather) for the winter months that us unfortunate ones get. That way you can give more options to people that can't make one or the other and for those that can make both, bonus.
keep us northerner's in mind as well. We love to enjoy our Vipers and cruise them to the event. A 8-10 hour trip is reasonable where as a 2 or 3 day drive is unreachable. Giving us those options will involve everyone and lets everyone enjoy the Viper that day and not just the beer and food.
So on that note, one every year alternating between north and south would be very accommodating and refreshing instead of every 2 years.

Any votes ??

Ya know - I think anything is possible (annual, 2 locations in one year, etc) because we will DELEGATE and have committees and WILL be taking people up on offers of help. These things are a big deal to plan - and they'd have to be reasonable "self funding"- but if they proved to be wanted more often - why not?

While we have a lot of collective experience but not a lot of major NATIONAL event experience as that was kept pretty close to the vest in years prior. So - let's see where this crazy ride takes us!
