View Full Version : July 26th -- Autocross Track & Skid Pay Day @ Lime Rock Park, CT

Don't Miss This! NY/CT Hosts the PERFECT event to explore what your Viper will do in more "practical" aggressive driving circumstances... and it's incredible fun!

If you have never autocrossed or tracked at all, this is exactly the opportunity you've been looking for to try it out! Safe environment, solo runs, fun track layout, skid pad to mess with the limit without chewing up your tires.

Saturday July 26th - we have the infield for the full day, 9am-5pm.

Register before July 18:
VOA members (any region) $75
Guests/Non-members $100

Register after July 18:
VOA members (any region) $100
Guests/Non-members $125

All makes and models are welcome as long as the driver is a member or family/friend of a member - last year in addition to Vipers, we had: Jeep SRT-8, Porsche, Pontiac, Classic Mustang.. even a Hyundai :-)

Not my cleanest laps :-) but check out the track layout -
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9dgJF0cjkec

And the other part of the infield we have access to is the Skid Pad:

Sounds like a plan! Do I get the VOA discount being an honorary Ohio member? I enjoyed dinner in NYC, you guys definitely have a great chapter and awesome members.

Would love to take the Magnum up there! I've been to Lime Rock once with a SCCA ST stock class Neon R/T. Good times.

The VOA member pricing applies to paying VOA members. So, sorry but no discount for you. :) But considering that it's an actual Auto Cross course, not a parking lot, and skid-pad at Lime Rock park with virtually as many runs as you care to do.....it's a bargain. We had Maganums join us and they had a blast. In fact, in 2009 it was NY/CT member and his Magnum that helped us beat the NJ crew in our "Venom" Cup autocross challenge. :smilielol:

Any safety equipment required? Helmet?

Convertibles are ok?

Can I bring a buddy with his own car if he pays the VOA nonmember price?

Bring your own food? Cookout? On site facility for chow?

Hi Pony,

Helmet is your choice, but really not necessary for AutoX. Convertibles okay - roof open or closed no problem. Last year I did most of my runs with roof open and baseball cap on.

Absolutely bring a friend with his own car! Non-member price for him, exactly (which is cheaper than last year for non-members if you register early!)

Food - you can bring your own food, but actually the concession stand at Lime Rock is one of the best ones at any track I've seen - I think I've heard ACR Steve rank it up there nationwide :-) It should be open most of the day for us and whatever is going on the main track also.

There is also a nice place on the way out of town that we could gather a group for dinner at 5:30 ish if there is enough interest.

Sorry if this was discussed before and I overlooked it, but are there any tire build date requirements? I know a few people who might be interested in coming, but I want to make sure I have all the info before inviting anyone as some may not be ready to buy new tires if there are.

Good question, and the answer is a qualified "no" We have no official requirement BUT use your judgement when it comes to old, harder tires especially 'run flat' tires. When in doubt, have a tech check 'em out.

For guests who may just want to watch (spectators), do they still have to pay or are the prices based on people who want to bring their cars to drive? Sorry if that sounds like a stupid question, but I just want to clarify that before I invite anyone so there aren't any surprises for anyone who wants to go and just watch.

no charge for spectators to come and hang out, prices only apply to drivers. There's going to be a few different groups using the main track also, so there will be more to watch than just us (although that's pretty entertaining).

Had a great time and thanks to all the hard workers at the event.

I recommend an event like this to all viper owners. I learned so much about the car and how it handles. How hard you can push the car. It is a very different beast than any of the other sports cars I have driven.

Plus how bad the run flats are. :)

Thanks to Steve (ACR Steve) for spending the day instructing us on how to get the most out of our Vipers. Steve tirelessly spent the day instructing, advising, giving rides, riding along, etc. And when he wasn't supervising he was showing us how it's done in his ACR. Thanks to Ed and Courtney for managing the event and special thanks to Ryan @ Limerock for helping make this happen. We're looking forward to returning next year. Though it pains for me to write this.....kudos to Chuck for demonstrating that a stock Red Viper + talent = great times on the auto cross. Chuck was smooth as silk out there yesterday! ;)

It always a pleasure to hang out with our neighboring club. Lots of good people.
Tony, Congrats on winning the New Car. Hope it arrives soon. And a special note to Steve (ACR) for setting the Fastest Lap for the Lime Rock Auto-X competition! Steve has more than qualified for the Auto-X shootout later this year. Great Job Steve.

Big thank to the board for allowing this event to happen. Special thanks to Ed, Courtney , Tony and chuck for helping me out at the event. Without you guys we all could have as much fun

Biggest thanks to everyone that came out to participate and watch. It’s all of you that make it worth it.

Some special awards should go out :

1st- to Tim for kicking my butt in the full course auto-x . You did an amazing job my friend, it was very slippery out there and you handled the car amazingly.
2-rd - Viper Tony for his amazing 3 plus spins (not sure if you had 4 but you were due for another  ) That is a new auto-x record my friend
3rd- Big Bill for finishing in 3rd only losing to 2 ACR’s with his 02” Final addition great job
4th- Ed and his amazing donuts at the skid pad- (way to release that pent up energy  )
5th- to everyone who participated and drove amazingly – I don’t think we had anyone drive 4 off, no car damage, learned something about our cars and lots of laughs

Great event 

Tim is also still in the running for their 2014 championship at #10 and the rest of us have been bumped down some more since their last update.

The Championship takes place mid-November so we'll find out what the deal is for spectators and let everyone know
