I posted a new thread in the memorabilia/collectibles section. I am searching for something specific but I thought I would encourage the Arizona crew to read it because IF (and it is a huge IF) I can get it, local would be an absolute dream. But hey, stranger things have happened. I convinced an intelligent, pretty girl to spend time with me. She says it's not cause the car but lets be honest...would I care if it was?

Anyway, just in case I do get incredibly lucky and and one of you has what I am looking for that would be great. If not, I am glad I gave it a try. Thanks AZ crew. Wish me luck in my search.

VB,
I looked at the Gen 3 version a few years ago for my grandsons at Walmart. Cost about $300. They only came in red. I think they may only carry the Gen 5 version now. You might get the name of the manufacturer off the box and call them ( I don't recall the mfgr's name). I then googled the brand and found several sellers that carried them. Might be worth a try. Good luck!

Thanks WS. I might try calling them. The forums devoted to cranking up the power on these things (yes, those exist) said that their customer service is terrible. My hope is to find some lot of them that got forgotten or left in the warehouse somewhere. These days it seems only the Gen V is available for purchase new at stores. Though someone replied and said they got lucky by just continually checking craigslist. Perhaps I will put out an add saying I am searching for one. It's all worth a shot.

Thanks LF. If you see one listed locally by you please just pounce on it. I will give you Carte Blanche up to 200 bucks for a used one if you would be willing to jump on it for me and then I will PayPal you the money. If you see one listed on Ebay or somewhere not local, go ahead and let me know. Thanks for your help guys. I know it's trivial but as I explained, it's an itch I gotta scratch.

i just check Craigslist here in Phoenix and there is one listed for 100 bucks. It'll need some serious clean up. Looks like they painted it black.

Oh now that's just mean. Funny. But mean. Don't worry Leadfoot, we will teach him a lesson. We will hide his Doan's back pills. Then he will be in too much pain to go to the talkies. Then screw the cap on his mentholatum real tight. That'll fix his wagon right good. : )

You are right about it needing some work. Though, I can spray it myself and it needs a battery but I planned on juicing the thing up anyway. Running 2 in series, put a motor in it from a scooter, then actually make the throttle a resistor so it would behave legitimately like a throttle. Then hopefully not kill my nephews with it. I asked them for a few more photos but so far the only other one I have found is near Riverside California and it needs a battery too. Less bodywork tho.

It looks like it was just spray painted with a rattle can. I wouldn't try to repaint it first, i'd try removing the spray paint with rubbing alcohol or if it's really tough, brake cleaner(brake cleaner will soften the plastic and cause the glossy quality the plastic originally had to be destroyed.) Other than that it looks like it just needs to be really cleaned up. If you want me to pick it up for you, i can do that.

And damn old man, you're on a tear tonight, somebody up your Viagra prescription?

LEADFOOT I will let you know. I emailed em, so when I hear back I will let you know if I need you to go grab it. I am gonna try and beat em up by saying it needs work and such. Brake cleaner will take any paint off like nobody's business. It looks rattle canned or dipped. Either way, yeah gotta remove it. Rubbing alcohol or thinner, then a nice coat of primer, wet sand, then a good paint. Plus I have a buddy who is an electrical engineer for Raytheon. I figure he can help me come up with the schematic for it (or at least check my schematic for any glaring oversights) and then it's just some install and wiring. Sounds like a fun project from my end.

I will drink those little 8oz beers while I work on it.

Actually, this seems fun. You will have to come down and help. Remember you still have the standing invite to come hang out and party for a weekend. Getting a little warm for a cruise but we can still drink and chase girls. We won't catch em, but it's fun to chase

Just let me know what you need. If you get lucky while removing the paint, the plastic underneath should be good enough without a repaint. But it's your toy. I know and i will get down there, probably after the Detroit trip.
