Gen V ACR?? When is it coming?

I love my 2008 ACR Hard Core Edition. Saw photos of a potential Gen V ACR in one of the auto mags in the last year or so. When will there be a Gen V ACR???? Or is the T/A all that there will be?:confused:

Unfortunately this is true. I think vert is more likely as it may appeal to more potential buyers, but I am seriously questioning future of Viper. With more regs coming with respect to fuel efficiency, many manufacture ' s going to smaller displacement and forced induction. Not sure if Dodge will make the investment to keep the Viper on track to complete ; with lackluster sales. Hope to see an ACR, but I scooped up my Gen V's while I was still able to get a big, nasty, naturally aspirated V10.

Ben Keating told me that Tomball has sold more Vipers in the last two months than ever before. My local dealer Normandin has also sold a good number of Vipers recently, and he's a small dealer. Viper sales have always been low volume, I think it's too early to say whether the program won't recover from their launch woes. Let's hope for the best. I suspect an ACR will come to market within a couple model years, but who knows.

ROI requirements would be both significantly less, and improved, now that it's under the Dodge brand... and as their "halo" car. The change seems like an effective way to reduce a wide range of costs, improve marketing and promotional efforts, elevate Dodge as a performance brand, and to ensure the Viper's future. If Dodge approaches it like other's do with their halo models, we may see it become both a performance and technology showcase in the future. The Viper's prospects just don't look bad to me, and I'm sure experiencing one fully as an owner gives me that appreciation and confidence. Bring on the vert for an instant surge in sales, and incorporate an auto on the next Gen if it isn't feasible for the current one!

It would also help if the 2015 "refresh" (outside of the possible Vert) is "bolt on" upgradeable to the 13 & 14's (If you like it). This would help the "value" of the first two years.

Looking at the product plan that was announced, I think the 2015 refresh will happen in 2015 and will be a 2016 model year.

Thats a good point. Its already June, you think they would of announced it if its for the 2015 model year.

Maybe they are waiting until they reveal details and solicit owner feedback on 2015 car to some Viper owners in Detroit next month.

I could see a future ACR getting the bare bones, hardcore treatment. Reduced weight, slight increase in HP, aero, upgrades, brake upgrades and fast new close ratio 8sp tranny varient of Hellcat. I know they said it doesn't fit but just not buying that argument. In the end, it would be the fastest and is a NA model of what Z06 was as new Z06 is superchargered which is against needs of long races, heat soak, etc.

Now the street car, if they want that to be the halo and grab headlines, market share, with the Hellcat coming in at 650 hp to 685 hp , the next Viper has to hit the 800 hp area. Now if a Blower fits, even if only at 5 psi, pretty easy to hit and should help with emissions.

Blower was just developed for Hellcat, small skunkworks team could have been also developing a blower for Viper which shares a lot of parts with the Hellcat. That would help lower the costs of development. As under the same brand now, willing to bet it could have been going on prior, we really do not know.

If the blower/hood fitment is the issue, then TT could solve that, maybe TT is what Dodge wants to be the upgrade for certain packages. Most performance SUVs are TT. SRT8 Jeep needs a performance kick, so does RAM. A lot of opportunity to share the cost on development now Viper is rolled back in the family.

LOL. Say what!? No way. They cant even sell the loaded GTS's at their crazy price of 135-150k range. No way they would be able to sell a 175k Viper.

Gotta agree with you guys. I'd rather have the price for an ACR reasonable enough that you're not afraid to take it on the track. Of course it'll be more than a TA, but I'm hoping it'll be below $140K.

I suppose you could have options such as CCBs but please offer a hardcore model with just the basics for the weekend warrior: Start with the base car, add adjustable coilovers and big aero, maybe bigger brakes, Trofeo Rs or similar cutting edge tires and not much else. Otherwise my regular track car will always be the Camaro simply because I can afford to track it.

I can see it now. Base ACR for $120,000 that you can option to $180,000 and everyone complaining the ACR costs $180,000
