Thought you would all enjoy a pic of these two together. The LFA is a blast to drive but no where near as fun as the Viper.

One of my friends has a Bently (640bhp) and a R8 (550bhp?) but doesn't come compete, because he doesn't like to lose. Although he thinks I want him to come compete so I can kick his ass ... it's not the only reason I want him to come and compete with us at events .... I really want him to have fun after I kick his ass, LOL. There's usually several corvettes that he could beat

So what's the difference between that LFA and the "Ring Edition" that set the quick time? I have never seen a Ring Edition LFA on a public road but I have seen I quite a few 2010 ACR's on the street.

The LFA gets a few looks but nothing like the ACR. I was borrowing the LFA for a while. Storing it for a friend and driving it once in a while. Its a wonderful piece of engineering and has a remarkable sounding v10 - completely different than that viper. Its well made, drives wonderfully but to me, it lacks the WOW factor in looks. I would buy a Ferrari or Lambo long before I would buy an LFA - and have enough left for a viper or two. It was wonderful to have around and fun to drive but nothing I would long to have in my collection. I am not sure why it cost so much. I am sure it has to do with the engineering time and the materials used in the construction. I think they only made 500. So it was a treat to have for a while. I did not drive it hard like I do my vipers as it was not my car. If I drove it harder, maybe I would have liked it a lot more :)
In the end, I'm a Detroit iron fan and always will be.

LFA may seem blah compared to the scariness of a Viper but rev em' up and the Viper will slither off into the grass. The LFA exhaust note sounds wicked awesome and puts the Viper sound to shame. Viper Bellangered up and all, the stock LFA is flat out awesome sounding. If you get to hear one, you will be amazed at the note.

I have heard several V-10s (Porsche, Audi, Lambo) and they all sound better than a Viper. Maybe the Viper sounds better than the iron block Ford and Dodge truck V-10s but I think it's close.

Didn't Clarkson describe the LFA as the best car he's ever driven? I'm guessing you disagree.

Yeah, maybe. Though if you think about it...all the commercials touting exclusively the exhaust note of a car with champagne glasses and all....kinda weak if that's the cars strongest feature. If anyone buys a car based on the sound only, especially a 450k one, has a few screws loose. Don't get me wrong, the car is a neat engineering exercise...just not nearly enough in the styling department or performance to justify the price. Think about it, you could buy an Aventador (which looks 100x cooler) and then send it to UGR for a TT setup for the same price as that LFA.

Don't get me wrong, I never said the LFA was a good buy, nor good looking. Just said the exhaust note is vastly superior to the Viper. I have owned Vipers now for over 8 years. Sorry but the exhaust notes leave a ton to be desired. How the odd firing order has lived this long is beyond me. The side exhaust position does not help either. Aventadors, etc do nothing for me. I would sooner take another 10 acres in land than spend more than $100k on a car.

I have only heard the LFA on TV, and it's amazing! That said, I've really grown to love the sound of the Viper. It's kind of an odd mix of muscle and exotic-- very unique. I love how it crackles and burbles as I decelerate. I like that at cruising speed it's quiet enough to hear the radio and almost have a conversation, but under WOT, it still sounds menacing.
I would love to see Lexus build a more reasonably priced sports car. I'm sure they could do something nearly as good, at a fraction of the cost. As it is, the LFA is only for the billionaire who has everything.
