Never could understand business ethics from people like him though. He built some of the best turbo Vipers around, back in the day, gets a great reputation doing it and thus builds lots of them, only to do a poor job in most of them by cutting corners and butchering some while doing so.
Ruins his reputation and his business and then decides to prove to the world that he is not a bad guy and produces great builds. he already proved to everyone he could back then. Why screw it up and then have to do it all over again in a much harder fashion as it is now very difficult for him to get the trust he had in place back then. He would not be in this position if he would have done it properly the first time. It just boggles my mind on how people think business wise. I guess its not for everyone.
Can anyone say RSi

How is that a production car? A small number have been made and less then 30 were planned to ever be made. How many veyrons are out there? Significantly more. You want a production record, make a production car.

I don't think the GT should qualify as a production car. There aren't, and never will be, enough of them. There were some 400 Veyrons produced, low numbers, but still enough to more than adequately qualify as a true production car. Going faster that the Veyron isn't all that hard either. With the $1.2 million the GT costs, and I can beat the Veyron in a 1998 Cavalier.

It's really tough being in auto repair / performance. John Hennessey needs to get some good public reviews (yelp). It's hell running a shop with a dozen plus projects at once & relying on a team. Those that have had a good experience with John Hennessey should share it because he makes some really cool stuff.

How about...Congratulations John!!! Job well done. Thank You, well stated, and he did have a bad history years ago but now is highly respected in the tuner and performance industry. He did great work on my old GTSR replica years ago.

This

A UGR lambo would out run that car and I know for a fact they have more on the road then 40 so I guess they build production cars to :)

Guys, if you are going to sh$t on him at least cite some issues in the last decade. Unless I missed something, everything above is fairly long ago. And, don't get me wrong I condone none of it.

I don't think John has run the company in awhile. I think they use his name (??) , and his techno but others do the day to day.

I have bought stuff for my Ford GTs with zero issues and quick shipment, and in full disclosure, he was a big help in researching my 92.

In the end, you have to decide for yourself. I suspect it is a far different outfit from the early, ugly years.

Don't think it's about his history it's about a tuner car vs. a production car

Old, old news? Probably so but it would be hard to send a car and thousands of dollars to a company like this.

This too. While I wouldn't trust him with my money, that's for a different thread. Even if they were able to produce more GTs, it's still not a unique production car. It's a car made by someone else(Lotus), and modified by Hennessey. If we're counting that as "production," then the door is open to all tuners to beat the "production" record.

I don't think a dozen made over a few years even gets close to qualifying as a production car.

I think koenigsegg barely qualifies by what I'd consider the numbers they produce. But, koenigsegg is from nuts to bolts designing and building their cars, so I think they fall into that category.
