Sucks. RIP.

100 mph on a city street is dumb. Glad he didn't kill anyone else.

I think that was a gen 3 that was repainted. It might have been on run craps. My condolences. Not a smart thing to do 100 on a public road.

..."repainted" would mean it had an incident/accident?
And, old run-craps?

Painted, and, the lights tinted but no monies for fresh rubber?
=> calling for a desaster.
:-(

Watch out newbies!

RIP. Looking over a satellite image of the road where this occurred you can see that he was pushing his luck. Too many residences and commercial entrances to be going anywhere near that fast. If you have to play on the road, at least make sure that it's a safe place to get on it.

Please don't blaze me for this, none of us wants to see that happen to a person and I hope the passenger pulls through. That being said I wonder what would we all be saying if he took out a bunch of kids or a family in a minivan! Driving 100mph on a street like that is BS and there is no excuse for it. Sorry but that's my take on it.

There's no excuse for driving 100 mph in a neighborhood... In any vehicle. period.

Same sort of thing happened south of LA a few years ago, but that time it was an off duty officer taking his father in law for a quick ride.

To me, this is why a strong local Viper club is important. SoCal viper gives people a place to run their cars safely and sanely. With at least one car control clinic yearly, club membership is an important aspect to Viper ownership.
I'm sorry he didn't become a member, it might have saved his life.

Im down with you on this completely Viper Girl. Hopefully this NEW club can educate people on what these cars can and cant do in a controlled environment. Our thought and prayers go out to both families.

Have to say just looking at the street view of that road, it looks nice and straight? I'm not condoning what the driver did but I've never known a Newspaper to be accurate in reporting! Yes speed was involved but trying to work out if someone is actually doing 100 mph is another thing, even the newspaper said 'close to 100mph' so it could have been 70mph! But of course what is tragic is that a young man has lost his life :(

As we all know the torque on these cars can play a big factor, particularly when gear changing!

I'm sure the agency's will inspect the car to see if anything broke, there have been issues with rear link failures?

Very sad for all involved :(

straight it may be, but it said it was at 7:00pm on friday. i'm not from california but i've been in LA traffic so this being nearby there had to be a good number of other cars on the road. my guess is an unexpected lane change or someone pulled out in front. at anything considered "fast" combined with old or cold tires (who knows if they were) will be a disaster guaranteed.
