A customer came by yesterday to order some wheels for his new Corvette, and to allow me to take measurements off of his car for fitment. We did a quick (and dirty) photo comparison of both cars. It was fun comparing all the body lines and differences between these two cars, and after our review we both agreed the cars look nothing alike. Sure, they share a few subtle cues, but the design theme of each is completely different. You be the judge.

I like the c7 a lot more than the c6 but it's not a viper! and people who are not car guys can't tell the diff. Between a z06 or zr1 or a standard vette . I heard the c7 z06 and zr1 are going to have a widebody that would be cool.

Really nice comparison with both cars being the same color.
Since that first front end glimpse of the C7, and Ralph's tweet "Your Viper called the 2014 Corvette. Wants its front fascia back..." LOL I seriously thought the Stingray looked too similar once again.
They do share some front facia lines, but thats about it.
Thanks for posting!

I think the front has a similar look, that's about it, the back looks great on the viper, the c7, I just can't get over the ass. I like the rest

yeh, fronts look similar. hood on viper is more aggressive looking. wish they had kept more of the gen II front,

As much as I thought the front 90% of the Vette looks great at first, the new edgy look is starting to look less appealing to me. Some have said SRT made the new Viper look too much like the Gen2, but that really is what I like about it. If I do ever pull the trigger on a Gen5, a twin to yours will be what is ordered, very subtle looks.

Great job putting up the side by side comparison, it's not even close in my opinion. Frankly I think the C6 which I own one (that's my 427 vert) looks better than the C7 unless you like video game styled cars!
Some American muscle today including Roys new custom prefix paint job.

Tony
Although most of you (including the Vette boys/gals), don't like the hind end, I on the other hand think the Vettes hind end is far more aggressive than the Vipers. From the shape of the lights to the 4 band exhaust, and the blacked out lower rear, I have to admit its scary mun. The front end is ok but the Viper gets it there, along with the roof line and the back glass flow. Just don't like the Vette there. Looks somewhat like a station wagon if you ask me. Nice car for sure....but not a Viper. They are getting close though. Lets go SRT, lets push them back a few steps shall we !!

Great pics, thanks for posting them.
The cars do look a bit related.....definitely not siblings/brothers.... but could pass for cousins in my opinion ??
And the C7, from the side view photo, appears to have better proportioned wheels/wheel wells that seem to be pushed out to the ends of the car which I think looks more modern.

Nice pics.
I think the c7 finally has an aggressive look... something it was missing for decades.
I'm glad they went that route because now it readily looks different from the viper - something you couldn't say 4 years ago.

Again great comparison,but
Look at it at this point. The base corvette at @70,000 will give you 450Hp and 450TQ. You can get into a 2008-2010 Viper with 600Hp and 560TQ for almost the same price depending on model (coupe or ACR). You could get into an 03-06 Viper with 505 Hp for far less than that. Bang for your buck the Viper is still the way to go. Now that is of course sacrificing a new car with an older car, but, most Vipers have such low miles on them, they are like new anyway. Some 2010 have extended warranties as well that makes up that slack between new and used.
Viper all the way. No questions asked as I have answered them all for you.:t1236:

From various angles the new C7 has shades of the Nissan Godzilla and the Datsun 280Z. The Gen V. shares some aesthetics with the C3 Vette. I like both, but I'm clearly jaded towards the Viper. ;)

What's up with the fitment of the Viper's front fascia? The white really brings out the flaws along the top where it meets the hood.
Outstanding photo shoot Tony, you put the car mags to shame. They are both very nice rides however, for me the biggest difference is...exclusivity.
But, ya gotta hand it to the Vette builders, they're on their game...http://www.autoblog.com/photos/transformers-chevrolet-corvette-stingray-sema-2013/#photo-1291938/

It seems like All the gaps are way too big. The Vette looks much more refined in this case. I don't like how the gap runs across the fasica into the side panels at all.

I feel like Chrysler has always been dinged a bit for pretty large panel gaps. The TopGear guys made a pretty big deal about it when the new Viper debuted on the show too.

Corvette looks like better build quality (body panel gap, etc), but the styling is hands down in the Viper's corner.
The C7 has had some significant QC issues, lots of paint and filament issues.

As stated earlier, this white C7 had worse panel fitment than my Viper. Sure, the hood gap is bigger on my Viper, but the rest of the panels line up flush. The white C7 also had runs in the clearcoat, and a lot of orange peel. I'll take the bigger hood gap.

Was thinking of adding a 2013 GTS to my stable earlier in the year but I thought of some pros and cons relating to this thread.
I figured that instead of dropping another 140K on a new car, I would be better of dropping another 75 on a base corvette and keeping both my Gen 1 And Gen 4 and the money saved (approx.60K+) I would use a few dollars to TT the Gen 2 and add a Gen 5 intake, heads, Mopar PCM, headers/exhaust and filters to my Gen 4. I would still have money left over for track sessions and a nice vacation or 2. Plus, both my Gens would be faster than the new car. the Vette would be added as a daily driver.
Now that is bang for your buck. IMO of course.

Your pics are making their way around the web Tony. I don't know of you posted them on any other non Viper sites but someone, a Corvette fanboy, posted one of them on my local car website with a tag line along the lines of "Check out how much better the C7 looks compared to the Viper". Let's just say even the die hard GM fans didn't agree with him, the Viper overwhelmingly won in the looks department.

I only posted them on the Viper sites and Motorhed.com, but they hit Facebook and went wild. Seemed about 50/50 on peoples choices, but they always leaned on the C7 relative to money. Money no object, all of them prefer a Viper. That is why we like them :)

This thread reminds me....
I'm still amazed Vipers and Vettes are confused....just ridiculous if you ask me.
Anyways, Viper hands down. White is a good showcase of cars. You can't hide any flaws with that color. If a car looks good in white, then it looks good.

It's a real shame that Dodge didn't do a GTS-R replica bumper on the Gen5. Would've blended some nice aggressiveness with those sexy body lines.

They have to save something for the ACR model, right? I wish they'd continued with the plan on stacked LED fog lights in those side scoops on the bumper. That was their original plan, according to Maurice's Viper book. There are even photos of the fog lights on early prototypes in that book.
I like the looks of them both (Font, Side & back). The fit between the hood and front fascia on the Viper don't look that great! What's up with that?

After I posted my comment I notice Nine Ball replayed "The dealership was able to get the hood fitment fixed." and posted some new pictures. I'm glad the dealer with able to fix the hood/front fascia fit. I'm not sure if it left the factory that way. If it did that's a little disturbing.
