I am trying to decide on these two brands.

Size I have now is 275/35/19 and 345/25/20 Pirellis

I would like to keep the same diameter size as so I don't end up rubbing.

I am a cruiser more than a racer although I would like to be represented well when I do decide on a few track outings this year.

Which one and why?

Thoughts?

I'll be replacing my PS2s with Super Sports when it's time. It's my understanding that the SS is simply the replacement for the PS2 (PS3, if you will) and the PS2 is eventually going away.

Super Sports don't have the correct sizes for a 19/20 package.

Super sport if it's an option.

Jon B just delivered PS2's for me (great price and too fast as usual). So there's pretty mixed opinion. Good news is that you can't go very wrong with either.

Super sports if the sizes fit what you want!

Don't understand. Why can't you fit the 275/35/19 fronts and 345/30/ rears ?

I just ordered the SS tires here in Toronto, Canada. Tried TireRack through JonB ofcourse and in the end I actually save a few dollars ordering them from here. The shipping and duty and tire tax, and dollar exchange just makes it unfair to go through the US.

Plus if anything goes wrong (warranty), I don't have to send them thousands of miles back to Tirerack and instead just have to drive down the street.

You can do a 295 30 19 on a super sport works great. Super sport are much better than the p2.

I have the whole car lowered and if I go two wide a tire in the front as in the rear I feel it might start to rub on my out lip of the wheel wells where as now with the 275 fronts it stays within the wheel well.

Just my thoughts. maybe some with the 295 fronts and lowered cars can chime in and let me know how their cars fair to that set up.

When I ran that set up my car was slam and no problem is not that much wider, is like the ACR formula for tires on the ACR they run 295 30 18 on the front.

I ended up purchasing a rear set of Michelin Super Sports...345/30/20....I will put them on and see after some spirited driving and going in and out of some dips, whether they rub or not. If they do rub in the rear, then I can always adjust my coil overs in the front and rear to suit the ride height needed to stop the rubbing. I am running the Pirelli Pzero Rossos 345/25/20's now and they don't rub at all. not sure about the wheel diameter difference between those two tires. I believe the last time I checked the Pirellis were 26.9 and the Michelins were 28.1...so roughly a half and inch extra all the way around. Crossing my finger and hoping its ok.

For anyone that's considering new tires, I just wanted to make note of the astounding difference. Putting aside the level of traction, changing out 5 and 1/2 year old tires makes a dramatic difference in ride quality. Driving the same roads that used to shake my fillings are now remarkably smooth. I'm no tire Wizard (reference to the one in South Salem, NY) but I'm guessing the sidewall flex is now 2-3 times greater than the old set. The resulting ride "smoothness" is crazy noticeable.

In short, forget the mileage. After 4-5 years, make the change.

Put my 345/30/20 SS's on and ill tell you, the tread depth is deep and meaty. Measured the width of the tire against the new P Zero Corsa's on a friends TA and the amount of tread that holds the road is 1/8 to 1/2 inch more footprint on the road than the 355's, In other words, the 345 SS is wider in actual footprint on the road than that tire. Good to know as it cost 200.oo cheaper and a better tire in my opinion.
