A few questions but I'll ask here in case more people are interested --

Is this a VCA or VOA event? Does one need to be a member to participate?

And is this with the NWACC?

Don't think I will make this event. I have never been to a autoX before. What kind of safety equipment must be brought? Any other things to know?

There is no longer a VCA in Washington.

This is a Washington Viper Club (VOA) event (and there are 4 in the 2014 series). Viper owners are not permitted to be associate members, so yes, you need to be a member to participate.

NWACC hosts their own events, but as it turns out, all 4 of our Autocrosses are on a Saturday preceding the NWACC A-X's on Sunday.

The only safety equipment (beyond what's already in your car) that you need is a SA2005 or newer helmet (NOT a motorcycle helmet - MA designation)

This helmet at Helmet City (http://www.helmetcity.com/page/HC/PROD/pyrotect/proairflowopenface) is a great choice for autocross since it's not like you would be likely to crash into a wall at 100+. Of course there are better options out there, especially if you plan to track your car - the low-bid helmet may not be your first choice.;)

Other things that are helpful, but not required would be upgrading your car with a harness instead of your stock seat-belts or upgrading your wardrobe with driving gloves &/or shoes.

Edit: don't show up in full-on Nomex gear unless you expect to be roundly mocked :)

Do you have a feel for what the turnout will be? Last year I went twice and even with NWACC joining us it seemed low.

Also, what is the policy on non-VOA members driving? For example, if I'm a VOA member can I bring a guest that will drive my Viper?

And what is the cost?

Thanks.

The good thing about low turnout is that you get more runs in! :drive:

That said, the weather forecast seems to be on track to cooperate in our favor, so we should get a decent turnout, plus 2 if you and your guest come out!

Fee structure is much simpler than past years - and more fair. It is now per driver rather than per car + driver X + driver Y+ add'l car for driver Z, etc. One fee per participant = equal number of runs each, no matter what car you happen to be driving. It got a bit convoluted in the past with multiple drivers driving multiple cars. Some people were getting 5-6 runs when everyone else got 3 or 4 per session.

That said, I'm still updating all of the forms (and paring down so that we don't have to fill out the same info multiple times) and will have it done tonight and I'll update the event info on the events calander. And to actually answer your question - WA Viper Club members are $40/day; Non-members are $55/day which includes a one-day Associate Membership. If they plan on attending all 4 autocrosses, I'd suggest applying for a 2014 Associate membership, which would save $10 overall and get invites to our other events as well.

Ben, did you get a sun shield? If not, let me know - I'll bring one to the Triple-X show and/or dinner on the 18th or to the next event.

MH60M - get signed up for the Club and join us for our next outing, there just might be more of these to give away...

Feel free to pass it along to someone else, it's not something I would use.

Thanks.
