Just curious, for a GTS is it a simple rotor and pad swap?

I'm sure the rotors are ultra expensive and hard to get.

They are straight off the ACRX. The pads are the larger "D" pads I believe, and yes they will slide right into the stock calipers of a gen IV or V Viper. I can tell you that the brakes on my TA are the biggest difference I have felt so far coming from a Gen IV ACR.

This is not accurate as far as the rotors. different design. ACRX rotors are true floating rotors and rattle on the street until heated up. The TA has the ACRX sizes (both front and rear) vs just the fronts for the ACRX, but are very different parts. As for pads, assume same pads as ACRX fronts and probably used for the back as well as far as side. not sure as far as compound. Yes, straight replacement though and easy to swap if desired.

Apologize for the misinformation I was told they were off the X. Are there any performance differences between the two?

Dredging up in old thread in my searches.....

Has anyone tried to price out a TA brake upgrade? My assumption is new rotors and pads, same calipers?

Just answered my own question I think with more searching, found the thread from Jon B below....

http://driveviper.com/forums/threads/7764-SPRING-BRAKE-SALE-Rotors-for-ACR-TA-and-ACR-X-and-a-One-Only-G5-BBK?highlight=brake+rotors

I've got a different question with this new info I've found. How much of an improvement over the standard brakes are the Track Pack? I know it's just a rotor swap, and how much better are the TA brakes over those? I'm assuming fade resistance would be the biggest benefit of the TA brakes because of the larger/heavier rotor with more swept area, but is there any difference in feel?

So how are the brakes different from your ACR to teh TA? Just the size of the pad?

Different Hat (slightly smaller)
Different drive pin hardware.
Thicker, much Heavier rotors front and rear
Larger swept area.
Larger pad footprint but slightly thinner.

Note: ACR-X is the same Front as TA Front EXCEPT HARDWARE!
ACR-X Rear is the exact same as ACR rear.

{Maybe Someone should save this post as a sticky in the new Tech Team Forum?}

PartsRack has them IN STOCK and on sale, see our post elsewhere on this...

Thanks Jon, I was hoping you would weigh in on this, I was also was hoping your sale in the link I provided above was still on too....

I have my local dealer in negotiations with another dealer, on the car I want as I type this. If they're successful, expect a phone call from me!

OOOPS! I did not read the whole thread when I responded. Thanks for the link, and the sale is still on except for the 1 VEx-BBK did sell.

To answer your other question, the Gen 5 "TRACK PACK" Optional Brakes (rotors and pads) are EXACTLY the same as Gen 4 ACR OE rotors and pads, with one exception: Hat Color !

Note: TA rotors and Front ACR=X rotors are HEAVIER than ACR Rotors. This meets the needs of longer-session tracking and racing, beyond HPDE. If you are a "Time Trials" or HPDE guy that runs 20 minute or shorter sessions, HEAVY TA / ACR-X brakes will likely SLOW your lap times unless your a top-tier-pro driver. Even then, rotating mass is a penalty in a short event.

What are the lightest rotors Jon?

What are the lightest rotors Jon?

Found this about the track pack rotors on the SRT website:

Track Pack brakes are designed to be especially effective on the track in the 100 mph-plus range. At slower speeds, the cooling advantage dissipates to fall back in line with the standard car. However, the Track Pack’s weight advantage is realized at any speed: at eight pounds less per rotor, the Track Pack brake setup is 32 pounds lighter than in the standard car. Factor in the lightweight wheels and lightweight tires, and the weight savings is considerable: in the most optimal case, Track Pack owners will save 62 pounds of unsprung weight compared to a standard SRT Viper.

What are the lightest rotors Jon?

StopTech as for ACR and Track Pack are lightest, and just as important are vaned to move 60% more air thru them than plain pillar-rotors as OE 1 pc.\\And thanks to darbgnik find on TrackPack. That equates EXACTLY to ACR rotors as well

So if I wanted to get new rotors for the ACR, is the any advantage to going with the Track Pack rotors over the stock ACR rotors? If so, would the standard pads work with the Track pack rotors? Ultimately looking for better braking.

So in order to shave weight on my SRT, track pack would be the best?

Makes sense, losing 62 pounds of unsprung weight by going with the track pack/ACR rotors and Sidewinder 2 wheels.

Just ordered the ACR brake rotors from Jon B, for the car I just signed for today. Combine these babies with the factory Sidewinders and Corsa tires, I've made my own Track Pack car. Seeing as that isn't an option on the Canadian Dodge website.......

Thanks for talking me into the cheaper ones Jon!

JonB, Good timing, received my rotors today along with the stainless brake lines. Weekend project. thanks again, for all your help!! Quick ? Are the track pac pads, the same as the srt pads?

Oh ya, got a set of stainless lines coming with the rotors too!

I just did this to my GTS thanks to Jon at Parts Rack. also did the break lines and fluid change out. Got to say dropping the weight off the 4 corners was the last winter project I had on my list. Now with the Arrow tune loaded and a few miles on I have to say HAPPY is a under statement. How this Gen V is still street legal is beyond me. Pure track machine is the only word I can come up with. Of all the rides I have had over a lot of years this is at the top.
