I was taking off my door panels today to have the switch's converted to LED. When I was removing the door panel the top piece that snaps in pretty much exploded into tons of little pieces. Are they available any where? Am I screwed with this part?

You are screwed.
There have been some folks that have done their own one-off trim pieces out of anodized aluminum strips in the past. Seems to be a lot cheaper than buying an entire door panel. I think the one I had replaced under warranty was like $900 some years ago.
Ask JonB first.

Agree, check with Jon, but they are pricey. Over on the "other" site, there are some homemade fixes. I just live with mine....!

I'm guessing it is the very top trim piece on the interior door panel...supposedly the Gen 4s had a revised part that was a little more durable than the ones found on the Gen 3s.

Looking around it seems that Paul Scharf (800-338-4002) might have a replacement part.

I don't think Paul has them anymore. I asked him about them last year sometime and he said they didn't have any and they didn't plan on getting any anytime soon.

Bernie- Not sure which door you're working on, but maybe this will help http://www.ebay.com/itm/2003-Dodge-Viper-Drivers-Front-Door-Panel-Used-/360166258950?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item53db94f906&vxp=mtr

This is a used drivers side door panel for a 2003 Viper, does not include top molding for inside window sweep. good condition.
If you had access to a 3D printer, you could just make your own piece.

You could also make a killing, if they don't insta-break like mine did. It has a terrible vibration under WOT. Makes the interior sound like a kit car. Keep us updated on what you do, pony.

The Gen 3 piece is stapled on to the panel. I think the Gen 4 piece clips on. I wonder if you can get the Gen 4 piece through a dodge dealer? I can't believe someone hasn't produced an aftermarket fix for this. It would be money in the bank.

The part is only available as the entire panel.

Since my trim piece detonated upon removal I have been scratching my head as to what to do. With the piece missing you can see down into the door and that is extremely annoying to me.

I decided to try a rubber seal piece to fill in the opening. It pushes onto the door piece and it is really snug on there. A flap of rubber covers the massive chasm that is now there. It came to $100 for a 25' roll.

Here is the mock up. The hole is sealed up nicely, but I'm not sure how much I like the ripple in the rubber. For now it is much better until I want to part with the money for a new door cover.

I do too actually! Where did you buy the rubber roll, do you have a part number (Home Depot, Lowes, etc?)

I picked it up from Grainger. If any of you guys want any of the remaining trim I think I paid $4 a foot.

You could use some spray adhesive and put a strip of Alcantara over the rubber to make it look a little better.

Thanks for the tip. I'll have to take a look, no Graingers around here.
Why not run by an Auto Upholstery place and see what ideas they may have for this?

I ordered it from them online. It wasn't in stack at my local one.
C.J. Maybe I will try that. I have a local auto upholstery shop a town over.
